Maybe he went to see his Khmer witch doctor again, the one he hired to protect him before the coup.

Sez the Post:

<< Convicted former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra denied as groundless a report that he had been expelled by the United Arab Emirates and was heading to Siem Reap, Cambodia yesterday.

He affirmed in his Twitter page at about 2am on Saturday that he is still staying in Dubai but will later today go to Europe to meet his two daughters there.

He said his daughters, Pinthongta and Paethongtan, had gone to Germany to see a hotel sales exhibition. >>

Maybe he got on the wrong plane and ended up in Siam Reap? And have his daughters decided to buy a hotel???

More news from the Post. Believe the version you prefer:

<< The Foreign Ministry is checking a report that former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra has been expelled by the United Arab Emirates and is heading for Siem Reap, Cambodia, according to Chavanont Intarakomalsut.

Mr Chavanont is secretary to Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya, said on Friday the ministry is seeking confirmation.

Panich Wikitseth, assistant to the foreign minister, said only that the UAD had promised not to allow Thaksin to use Dubai as his base for political activities against Thailand.

The report was quickly denied by Thaksin's close aide Noppadon Pattama.

Mr Noppadon said the report was not true. Thaksin was still in Dubai and had no plan travel to Cambodia during this time, he said. >>

Why he left!

UAE pressures Thaksin to keep his cool

The United Arab Emirates government has banned former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra from using the country as a base for his political activities, the Foreign Ministry says.

Thaksin will be asked to leave the UAE if he ignores their wishes, Panich Vikitsreth, assistant to Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya quoted the UAE Foreign Ministry as saying.

[color:red]"The UAE informed the government on Thursday that it might ask Thaksin to leave the country if he does not cease political agitation," Mr Panich said yesterday. Unconfirmed reports say Thaksin has left Dubai for Siem Reap in Cambodia, said Chavanond Intarakomalyasut, secretary to the foreign minister.[/color]

Noppadon Pattama, Thaksin's legal adviser, yesterday dismissed the ministry's claims that the UAE would ask Thaksin to leave the country if he uses it as a political base. The UAE has not discussed the matter with Thaksin, he said.

Not sure why they bothered using the words "might" and "if". Is there anyone on planet Earth who thinks he might ever do that? Or that he would ever respect anyone's wishes that run counter to his own? I think it's interesting that part of his own Thaksin-myth spiel is how he talked with his family about his idea to go into politics, and they all asked him not to do it. So he did it. (So he asked them... why?)

No less real than the "poor boy does good" crappola, when he comes from one of the wealthiest families in Chiang Mai.

Or the "successful businessman" nonsense, when everything he tried failed and he was tens of millions in debt, before he got the mobile phone monopoly. Hard not to get rich when you control something everyone wants.
