shygye
Fess Parker, the strapping star who played Davy Crockett in the hugely popular Disney television show of the 1950s, died today of natural causes at age 85, his family announced. The actor, whose classic roles also included the son-consoling dad in Old Yeller and another 'coonskin-cap-favoring frontiersman in NBC's Daniel Boone, had retired from showbiz in the 1970s and founded a hugely successful winery and resort in Santa Barbara. Where's my 'coon skin cap? qdMA2spF0Bg

cavanami
Just finished the book: A Sorrow in Our Heart, about the life story of Temcumseh, the US Indian chief of the Shawnee Indians. Daniel Boone played a part and was a land grabbing prick but highly respected by the Indians! Never learned/heard about the vast negative side of Daniel Boone, but such is history when told by the USA RIP, good actor!
Bangkoktraveler
Some historians claim Daniel Boone used to carry in his pocket a 'kentucky toothpick'. This 'toothpick' was dried out, generally streched. It was the penis of an animal. Favorite toothpick material were raccoons and coyotes. The 'kentucky toothpick' later was replaced with the rabbit's foot. When I was a boy, the rabbit's foot is what we carried as we wore our raccoon hat.
