Water cannon, tear gas used on reds

3:02pm

Security forces have used water cannon and tear gas against red-shirt protesters who surrounded Thaicom station on Pathum Thani's Lat Lum Kaew district on Friday afternoon.

The move came after a large number of protesters moved from Phan Fa and Ratchaprasong rally sites and mobilise to the station in an attempt to get the red-shirts' People Channel back on air.

The government blocked the PTV signal on Wednesday night. Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said that the channel aired distorted information and was a threat to national security.

Authorities had warned about the use of water cannon, teargas and rubber bullets to enforce a state of emergency imposed in Bangkok and surrounding provinces.
