85-year-old woman may sue TSA after being strip searched at JFK Airport

An 85-year-old Long Island grandmother says she plans to sue the TSA after a humiliating strip search on Tuesday by agents at JFK Airport.

Lenore Zimmerman, who lives in Long Beach, says she was on her way to a 1 p.m. flight to Fort Lauderdale when security whisked her to a private room and took off her clothes.

“I walk with a walker — I really look like a terrorist,†she said sarcastically. “I’m tiny. I weigh 110 pounds, 107 without clothes, and I was strip-searched.â€

TSA spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein said a review of closed circuit TV footage from the airport shows “proper procedures were followed.â€

But Zimmerman, whose hunched back puts her at 4-foot-11, said her ordeal began after her son, Bruce, drove her to the JetBlue terminal for the Florida flight. She lives in warm Coconut Creek during the winter.

She checked her bags, waited for a wheelchair and parted ways with her doting son — her only immediate relative.

When Zimmerman reached a security checkpoint, she asked if she could forgo the advanced image technology screening equipment, fearing it might interfere with her defibrillator.

She said she normally gets patted down. But this time, she says that two female agents escorted her to a private room and began to remove her clothes.

“I was outraged,†said Zimmerman, a retired receptionist.

As she tried to lift a lightweight walker off her lap, she says, the metal bars banged against her leg and blood trickled from a gash.

“My sock was soaked with blood,†she said. “I was bleeding like a pig.â€

She says the TSA agents showed no sympathy, instead pulling down her pants and asking her to raise her arms.

“Why are you doing this?†she said she asked the fascist pigs, who did not respond.

The TSA claims the footage does not show any sign of the injury.

“Our screening procedures are conducted in a manner designed to treat all passengers with dignity, respect and courtesy,†Farbstein said.

Zimmerman says a medic arrived to treat her injury. The process took so long that she missed her 1 p.m. flight and had to catch a later one.

Her son said he was shocked when his mom called around 9 p.m. that night and described what happened.

“She was put through a hell of a day,†he said.

Zimmerman, who takes blood thinners, later had a tetanus shot for fear of infection from the walker wound.

Bruce Zimmerman, 53, said he can’t understand why the agents targeted his mom.

“She looks like a sweet, little old lady,†he said. “She’s not a disruptive person or uncooperative.â€

Cain has pulled the plug. After he rose so high, it is a shame to see him take a tumble. At least he has done a bit more to put racism to rest in America (except in the Democrat Party maybe).

The Demoncrap Party has historically been worse in terms of racism and slavery than the GOP...starting from the days of the Civil War until today. I'm in the process of writing a short synopsis that should enlighten those who are ignorant of the facts.

I don't think one party or people have a lock on racism, prejudice, etc. I've seen blacks in LA talk about white racism and in the same conversation make the most racist statements against Mexican Americans and when I called them on it say its not racism because its true!!

Met racist gays, Jews, all manner of racists than WASP. I've also met the coolest folks I've ever met from these groups as well.

We all make our little jokes and such. I do and I'm sure my non black friends do and have. Doesn't make you racist in my book. Practicing it does to me.

As for Cain, I could care less about his extra marital affairs. The sexual harrassment charges should be considered with regards to his Presidency IF its going to be an ongoing thing but not significant to me as I would think any person who will become President would behave a wee bit better.

I dismissed Cain early on because he was embarrassingly unprepared to answer basic questions and showed a shocking lack of knowledge about things. Far worse than that remote nation Bush was criticized over (wrongly in my opinion).

Iowa Poll: Gingrich leads GOP pack, then Paul, Romney

With the dizzying fall of Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich has stepped into the breach and now stands alone as the most popular GOP presidential candidate in The Des Moines Register’s new Iowa Poll.

Gingrich, with support of 25 percent of likely Republican caucusgoers, is seven points ahead of the rising Ron Paul, who’s at 18 percent. Mitt Romney drops to third, at 16percent, denting his previously armor-plated Iowa polling average. Romney’s support stood at 22 percent last month.

Cain, who suspended his campaign Saturday, had plunged from 23 percent to 8 percent in just over a month, tied with Michele Bachmann.

In a race that’s still far from settled, previous candidate surges have had a half life. But Gingrich’s comes at a critical time — with just a month until the first votes are cast in the nation’s GOP nominating contest. The key question is whether his support represents momentum or a peak.

Politics watchers say it could be difficult for Gingrich to withstand the rigors of front-runner status, especially when his campaign has shown a lack of discipline so far, plagued by early debt, staff turnover and a paper-thin organization.
