Flashermac
I voted for Bob Dole against Stiff Willie. Dole is a disabled veteran who has almost no use of his right arm. (He was a university star athlete and intended to become an MD, but while serving in the Army he was hit by Nazi machine gun fire in Italy in April 1945 and left a cripple.) Running against the sleazy draft dodger Clinton, voting for Dole was an easy choice. Of course, most folks don't think like me.
Steve
The '96 ticket of Dole/Kemp was actually a damn good one but the timing was wrong. '90s, bull market, popular prez. Wasn't gonna happen. I especially liked Kemp. Dole actually met with a lot of Black groups in the '90s. NAACP, etc. and I gave him much credit for going there, no press, just him and them to discuss mutual areas to agree and tried to explain why his views that were seen as conservative were actually good for them. Kemp had a great idea while head of HUD to just scrap the public housing system and grandfather in long time residents to own their own apartments and in turn this would make the residents clean up the housing projects since they had a vested interest in increasing their property value. A trial project happened in St. Louis and they found it worked wonderfully. in fact, the rules the tennant/owners set up were at times stricter than the co-op rules of upper class manhattan apartments. ALso he said instead of losing money on maintaining housing, the government would make money off property taxes, etc. He also championed enterprize zones to combaat urban unemployment. Companies would get tax abatements or reduced taxes if they moved production inner city. Also training and internships. Of course all this made too much sense so it was scrapped.
Steve
Debtors prison making a comebacK? http://inplainsight.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/05/27/18380470-sentenced-to-debt-some-tossed-in-prison-over-unpaid-fines?lite So, instead of putting people in jails that are already overcrowded as well as them becoming a financial burden to society by losing their jobs and having a criminal record, why not have these people work it off? Picking up trash, volunteering at all manner of places in need or even have them wear an electronic bracelet instead of jail time after work and take away their free time. Garnishment of a small percentage over time. Anything is better than jail for unpaid fines.
dean
Steve, I was referring to schemes that require several people to succeed. Whether its the person that brings in the customer, the person that actually does the paperwork or the official that is paid to turn a blind eye, in many of these schemes, there are too many people that can turn in the perpetrator in, if only to get a reduced or no jail time. I wouldn't trust anyone involved in a scheme that could turn me in because they were disgruntled or wanted to save themselves. Having family members as co-horts is a safeguard, but Robert DiNero had the right idea in "Goodfellas," when he started killing his co-horts in a multi-million cargo heist at JFK. That is the only way to insure secrecy.
Steve
yeah, you're right. Too many people its damn near impossible. its why I find some of these government conspiracies like 911 being staged hard to believe because of too many people, low level people having to be inolved. cavanami
...and as long as the conspiracies appear to hard to believe, the governments will continue to do them! 9/11 is a no brainer...demo free fall of all the buildings? and the one building that came down and wasn't even hit by the planes??? cavanami
Extensive List of Politicians Paid Off By Monsanto http://www.infowars.com/extensive-list-of-politicians-paid-off-by-monsanto/ Democrat, Republican, it doesn’t matter. As long as you can help Monsanto slide its icy tentacles into the food chain, then there’s some financial tip available to you. Thankfully, many such ties can be exposed through some data digging, and thanks to diligent readers who send comprehensive news tips and other researchers out there, we now have an extensive list of politicians getting paid cold hard cash from GMO juggernaut Monsanto. Keep in mind these are the figures we know, which means that behind the scenes expect these numbers to multiply extensively. But what is most amazing is that these politicians just don’t care that you know they’re receiving thousands of dollars from Monsanto! They sweep it under the carpet, but they are openly taking money from this corporation that has been caught running ‘slave-like’ rings and disregarding public health. We’re talking about a corporation that primarily aided in the creation of Agent Orange — the Vietnam-era chemical weapon that killed over 400,000 people and led to 500,000 plus birth defects. Looking at these figures, over $260,000 was openly pumped into the House, and $122,000 was pumped into the Senate. And again, this is openly. I’m speculating, but I would imagine the real number to easily be in the millions. Can you imagine how much they must pay these politicians to shoot down GMO labeling bills that 90 plus percent of the entire country wants? Or how about the nice chunk of cash that Monsanto paid Senator Roy Blunt to ‘help write’ the Monsanto Protection Act that grants Monsanto immunity from federal courts? Roy’s cash payment is not included in this list, however RT reports he received $64,250 towards his campaign from the company. Surely they expected nothing in return. cavanami
Here’s How We’ll Be Forced To Pay 146 Percent More For Insurance Under Obamacare http://www.infowars.com/heres-how-well-be-forced-to-pay-146-percent-more-for-insurance-under-obamacare/ As states gear up to create the health insurance exchanges demanded under President Obama’s Affordable Healthcare Act they’re finding out that private policies for individuals aren’t going to be quite as affordable as legislators promised. In fact, in California, individual healthcare premiums will increase by as much as 64-146 percent. As recently as last week, Peter Lee, executive director of California’s healthcare exchange, said that California’s version of the healthcare exchange would actually reduce premiums. “These rates are way below the worst-case gloom-and-doom scenarios we have heard,†boasted Lee. But according to Forbes contributor, Avik Roy, Lee was comparing apples to oranges. An increase is inevitable because most of the current individual policies do not meet the mandates set forth by Obamacare...
cavanami
Obama to Sign U.N. Firearms Treaty Rejected by Senate ...and the treason continues.... http://www.infowars.com/obama-to-sign-u-n-firearms-treaty-rejected-by-senate/ President Barack Obama will soon sign an international arms trade treaty previously rejected by the United States Senate. The United Nations Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) establishes regulations for international arms sales. Categories of firearms listed in the treaty includes tanks, artillery, and small arms such as handguns. The U.N. General Assembly passed the treaty on April 2nd with a vote of 153-4, with the United States voting in favor. Obama intends to sign the treaty on June 3rd. On March 23rd, Senator James Inhofe (R-Okla.) introduced an amendment to prevent the U.S. from entering into the treaty. It passed by a vote of 53 to 46. Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) introduced another amendment to ensure “that the United States will not negotiate or support treaties that violate Americans’ Second Amendment rights under the Constitution of the United States.†This amendment passed in the Senate by a voice vote... Due to the Senate’s response to the treaty, Obama’s signature will be symbolic at best. According to Article II, Section 2, Clause 2 of the U.S. Constitution, the President “shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur.†
