Boo Radley
He's been identified in the local Thai press today as Oswald Heinrich Duvel, a 50-year old South African, working as a manager for a design company. His ex-Thai wife is a prime suspect in the murder since he was in some sort of legal dispute with her over custody of their 3 year old son and there is a pending court case scheduled for next week on the 8th Oct at Pathum Thani's Juvenile and Family court. He was identified after a close Thai female friend of his, 32-year old Ari Nutawong, contacted the police after he went missing on the afternoon of 29/09/12. She'd gone out for a meal with him and six friends on the evening of Friday 28th in Bangkok, where he had an apartment in Phayathai's Soi Aree 5. They'd gone in his 4-door Chevrolet pickup truck, which he ended up being too drunk to drive back in so they left the car with a friend in Soi Thonglor 13 and travelled back to his apartment by taxi. Midday the following day he went back by skytrain to pick up his car and an hour later he phoned Miss Ari saying he was going to see his 3 year old luk kreung son (with his former Thai wife) in Pathum Thani's Lam Luk Ka district. After that he disappeared without trace and Miss Ari was unable to contact him by phone or text so she reported him missing to Thonglor police station. Later, on the evening of the 30th, some of her friends informed her of the news reports of the murdered farang in Saraburi and on contacting Saraburi's Kaeng Khoi police station and viewing the body, it turned out to be her farang friend. Police hope to make an arrest soon. http://www.manager.co.th/Local/ViewNews.aspx?NewsID=9550000120398 (01/10/12)

Wallenda
Boontin Puipong, 31, Sattri Sripatum, 28, and Nipit Satabut, have admitted murder, but say they were provoked because Mr Charnaud interrupted them while they were drinking whisky. I wonder if they got off because their motive was so clearly understandable.

So she and a "close male friend" committed the murder, and they were motivated by a custody battle over a child she had with the deceased? I would be checking for life insurance policies, recent major bank withdraws, etc.
Flashermac
With JohnnyWas the reason was his ex-Mrs wanted to gain custody of their son, so that she could control all that he would inherit from his now deceased father.
Mekong
I am not sure if my ex or her family would be vindictive towards me but I changed apartments the day after she paid up! Better to be safe than sorry
