Specialist
I have had good experiences at Bumrungrad, ER, inpatient, and outpatient in their general medical clinic. On the things I have seen, they do at least as well as a good US hospital, at a fraction of the cost. Having said that, I remember a Thai woman a few years ago who was not impressed with them, and the girl a few weeks ago refused to go there, saying "too much money". Coss
Run over by drunken kids in Ferraris ... Here in VTE we had a similar instance of a relatively benign kind yesterday. Traffic held up on 4 lane road. My side (the slow side) inches slowly forward. The cause? A brand new BMW, so new it had no plates, parked in the fast lane, young driver of obvious 'do you know who my father is?' heritage, is asleep, hand on handbrake. I gave my horn a couple of blasts, no effect on him. Police at police box about 20 metres away watching but not willing to approach the scene due to concerns about job security.... F**K-knuckles one and all....
Flashermac
In my old compound, a Russian who worked at the UN or embassy (forget which) decided to drive out one day when he was totally wasted. He got about halfway out into the soi, completely blocking it, and then passed out. The engine was running, the driver unconscious and the doors all locked. No one could get through the soi and people were highly pissed off. The police stood there staring, uncertain what to do once they saw the diplomatic plates. p.s. The guy had beautiful Russian wolfhound. One day the idiot opened his door and let the dog run out. It raced straight into the soi and was killed by a speeding Thai moron who thought he was an F1 driver. Everyone was heartbroken, since the dog was quite lovable. It should have been the fucking Russian that got run over.
