baa99
Tell us, how much oil Thais consume, by your calculation? I just gave the figure for palm oil. You have to also include coconut oil and soybean oil!
Dexi
They may not consume a lot of oil " per se " but they certainly like their fried insects... ....never tried them myself and never will ....kao pat probably uses a lot of oil also. Not surprising they dont use a lot as its got a high calorific value - not really what you want in a hot climate. think_too_mut
Can you not read? What a hero and visionary you are! 35 years of experience! To come to collosal and historical conclusion like: 7 Litres = 1400 or 3.835 TSP / day which is 767% higher. Why do you keep posting Crap? It may wash with an Isaan wife or the Japanese but you can't fool me, I have only been involved in Measurement and Control for near on 35 years. Look how teaspoons (not even 4 of them) become 767% higher of anything. A bit of sense od reality and 1 day visit to Thailand would tell that bulk of that oil is never actually eaten - it's in the deep fry basins. think_too_mut
In this picture, Sunday lunch at home, only one meal is Isaan. Cooked by a Thai woman Larb. Not a drop of oil, a genuine Isaan food: And very tasty at that.

think_too_mut
A visit to Thailand would teach you that the fish is "Thai tuna". Isaan, landlocked, don't have it. It comes from Samutsakhorn, between Bangkok and Hua Hin. Then goes around the country. Not Isaan specific.
baa99
Wow, now Isaan has no fish to fry!
think_too_mut
They should google the seafish and imagine they have it.
Specialist
There are no decent Thai restaurants in Huntspatch. You can't get larb moo here. At all. I was in Austin TX a few weeks ago. There are a few. I hit one place I know about. Decent tom yum gung, good larb moo, very good Thai iced tea. It is probably the only fix I will get before I land at Swampy in November.
