Flashermac
Now what? My relatively new Acer monitor has started having a video "bounce" every minute or so. Any idea what could be causing it? I expect I will have to dig out the warranty and take the @#$% thing back to the shop I bought it from. The display itself is perfect, just the bounce. Any suggestions on how to fix it, short of taking it back?

Flashermac
That was my first thought. I hoped someone else would have a better suggestion.
cavanami
Bouncing...could be some loose connection. Could be the Vertical sync circuit. Try tapping on the monitor to see if you can induce the bouncing, that may indicate some loose connection. Heat problem? too hot in the room? Coss
Cable loose? I'd suspect the computer's video card myself, but as cavanami suggests tap the monitor, wiggle the cable and sockets see if it's mechanical.
Specialist
If you have access to the equipment, hang a power line monitor on your wall plug. You could be seeing spikes or dropouts.
Flashermac
Thanks. I've suspected the power has something to do with it. After all, this is Bangkok. It just acts up for a second or so. p.s. Tapping it and even thumping it doesn't cause it to happen.
cavanami
Add a power line filter to the monitor. There are power strips that have them built in, but not the 99 Baht power strips, more like 300+ Baht. For grins, try to plug in 180 degrees so as to change the power and neutral lines going to the monitor. Add a UPS, a good one that does filtering. Flashermac
Will keep trying. The damn thing is still doing the hula hoop, despite my shaking, thumping and swearing at it. It's like the effing thing has hiccups.
Specialist
I just realized. Is this a CRT monitor, or a flatscreen (LED/LCD/some such)?
