Thailand Holidays Until 12 Jan 2015?

The Thai TV News, or the 6 PM 15-minute update, said that:

 

1. The highways will forgo charging tolls around the New Year period.

 

2. The holidays will extend until 12 Jan 2015.

 

I *** think *** this is what was said.

Not heard anything about that, but seriously doubt it. It would cause too much problems for businesses.

I do know that the 2nd of Jan has been declared a national holiday though.

Checking the Thai language internet, my engineers find two versions of the extended holidays:

 

1. 31 Dec to 05 Jan, inclusive

 

2. 25 Dec to 05 Jan, inclusive.

 

Option 2 goes with what they announced 6Pm last night

What I heard a little while back was that the 2nd was a mandatory holiday and Dec 29 & 30 were "suggested but to each company". Not heard anything about the 5th being a holiday, and that one doesn't really make sense either.

 

Anyway, fuck knows what the gov decides

As you know as a business owner, the gov mandates these holidays then the business community has to pay!

 

After this year's lousy business, this makes for an Ouch!!!

 

Maybe the Thai military can shuttle some funds to the biz community to pay for the holidays...like we won't hold our breath...

I hear it is suppose to be 9 days spanning xmas to ny.....
