Flashermac
The house I'm moving to has no phone line, but it has Wifi installed. What does this mean for my standard PC? Will I need to get a Wifi adaptor to connect? How do I do that?
radioman
Interesting. The Wi-Fi must connect to something. Usually it's a phone line. Who's Wi-Fi is it? It has Wi-Fi "installed" or Wi-Fi coverage is available? Very different methinks.
Flashermac
The landlord is a high ranking policeman. I don't understand it, since there's nothing near it to connect. The owners says he was Wi-Fi connected and all we need is the password.
Guest
There must be a line to a wifi router box located somewhere and in range ( hope the signal strength is excellent ) the idea is you will link to this router. You will only need the name of the wireless connection and the password. If you have a laptop it will have it's own built in wireless adaptor and will be easy to set up, but if it's an old standalone tower it may require the purchase of a wireless card. radioman
Sounds about right. Someone is giving you access to their service it seems.
baa99
There are USB WiFi adapters, but I would go for a PC express card to get a better antenna. If you have a smartphone, you can test the WiFi setup.

Flash 2 choices a) A PCI Wireless Card card costs about 1,000 THB takes about 1 minute to install USB "Dongle" Wifi Adapter As Baa previously stated for a PC a PCI card would be the better option

Flashermac
Since I'm not very computerate, I was thinking of a USB plug in adapter. Worth trying? They seem cheap enough. Aha, on googling it seems that's what you mean.
