When I was in publishing, the sales manager (son of a general with a royally bestowed title and real hi-so) told me about some of the nonsense that goes on with the "posh". He asked if I'd seen a beautiful Rolls Royce that used to be driven around Bangkok by a wealthy Chinese Thai woman's chauffeur. Yes, I had. He told me he knew the woman - and the car. He said it had a Toyota motor under the bonnet and couldn't do more than about 40mph, but that was enough for Bangkok. It was all just for show.
