My trip…

Day 4…I just returned from my morning walk, picked up breakfast on the way…BBQd chicken ass and BBQd eggs…can’t get the Moscone coffee dialed in taste wise…maybe it just sucks?  Played pool a few times, lots of action yesterday at Hustlers in the Times Sq. Building, great place yesterday there was a huge 9 ball tournament, So we play across the street, at the place above Thermae/Ruamchit Hotel, ok place prices about the same…we like Hustlers a bit better. We left just as the katoeys were gathering outside.  Funny thing is, my wife hated playing pool and was not very good…then I kiddingly suggested we play for 100bht and she turned into Willie Fucking Moscone…

Walking around in the earthly evening, it seems a bit slow, even Saturday night seemed slower and quieter than I remember from years past. Noticing a lot of Nepalese working as street venders, not sure how this is happening, but it is…they seem to be giving better prices on some stuff so I won’t complain…Haven’t seen any African girls selling…er…ah…that…which seems odd…not as many loud African fuck sticks walking around either…again, not complaining…

Food has been really good so far, my wife is happy to be gobbling up all sorts of stuff best eaten in a well ventilated area, We are excited to try Arab food. Funny how times change…years back I’d be posting about other exploits…Maybe time to buy a cardigan and take up pipe smoking..?

Any Indian watch salesmen? Or the "you lucky man" crew?

No, these are Nepalese, we asked. Bought some pens from the one guy, might buy more and a couple of fake watches…opening prices were reasonable 350 per pen instead of the usual 600, settled on 200 each if I bought a dozen, which I did. I usually give them out at work…

I don't mind the Nepalese. One of the companies we use is 99% Nepalese. Their boss is a great guy. Does a lot of good work in his community. Every year you can guarantee breakfast and a bottle of Chivas for Christmas.

We have an influx of Nepalese and Tibetans in my area and at my work place, nice guys. Good food. Met the Sherpa who holds the speed record for Everest…

My good friend, a Japanese, is a President of a Japanese company (a smallish one 1,000 employees) that makes heavy duty water tanks and water tanks towers, an essential need, supplying not only the communities but also commercial.
They extended their business into Nepal and draw many Nepalese engineers into Japan. He says they are excellent, well skilled, good English, kind at that.

Been up in Surin the last few weeks, been fun, got sick as hell twice…”fresh” (when we bought it?) seafood got us the first time, this past Wednesday night ate a bad shrimp from a local reputable restaurant sick all Thursday, went to the doctor Friday, spent last night in the hospital getting bags of anti-biotic and other great stuff main lined into me…feel a bit better, came home today, Saturday, and then had to deal with changing the booking on Air Asia which almost caused a stroke… but over all, it’s been fun…

So my trip has concluded for now. It was fun, interesting, 7 weeks…mostly in Surin, not what I planned, but wtf? Right? Spent 2 days in the hospital with some intestinal infection, I believe from a bad shrimp served by a Katoey waiter… drove from Surin to the seafood market/beach in Jomtien, left as the fireworks festival was starting. Nice road trip through a national park of sorts, played with elephants etc…now back to reality for a few weeks, then off to Hawaii and then New York City…then back to Thailand…semi-retired for the next few years then that’s it, off to Surin permanently…maybe a side place in Hua-Hin or Jomtien…
