As I mentioned I lived in the Inner Sukumvit area for several years,speak Thai fluently and... roo yud gern bai-"know too much as the BG say" and yes I have done my bar-time but have drifted away from the scene into more "normal"Thai society but the people watching still fascinates me. The best show in town is to sit at the mouth of the Nana and watch the girls come to work and the punters come to punt.( Now don't crowd those stools please...) But seriously there are a LARGE number of highly questionable types running from their pasts frequenting this area. They are perhaps not those oddballs described on this post but they are there...major drug barons, terrorists,con men,thieves and those folks who are just simply twisted and insane. I know for a fact that major international agencies keep tabs on this area so beware of who you associate with. While there are many friendly and decent types just there for the fun there are a like amount of people that one should not be seen in a photograph with ... Guilt by association I think it is called. On simply the oddball side how about the pair of characters that always run around together and are always at the Nana Hotel or Thermae- One a thin,small dark haired man with shoe-polished coiffure,always wears black who has had way too whacks by the plastic surgeon- very weasely and is always seen in the company on Sukhumvit witha fat obnoxious guy wearing SHORTS chomping a cigar-very unsightly.Dianne Arbus the 70's photographer would love them- Once I saw them 2 or 3 years ago sitting in the lobby of the Nana with the old man that lives there full time-Two of the three were sitting there in shorts in those funky chairs with their nuts hanging out-a very special charming Nana moment-ugh- Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Seems to be wealthy woman but a little bit grazy. Johnny, Ex Belgian soldier of fortune, about 70, he has been in Pattya between soi 11-soi 7 for about 20 years.Walks with beer bottle in hand and talks to himself. Distinguishing feature: extremely long nail on little finger of left hand. Anyone know them ?" Fingernail man lives in Cambodia these days since his unfortunate spot of bother in Pattaya. He's mainly to be found in the beach resort of Sihanoukville and has a reputation as something of a barfly. The trouble is, she isn't looking for a punter, She always comes in a group which includes an enormously fat, though young, moustachioed guy who, I've been told, is her husband. It's a real pity. Guest Posted May 17, 2003 Report Share Posted May 17, 2003 I was in pattaya about a week ago in the royal garden sizzler right next to the windows, and saw a guy walk by whos face was completely covered in tattoos, wearing those big sunglasses the kind that the doctor gives you when your eyes are dialated. Just wondering if anyone else has seen or knows this guy and what is his story. Part of the fun of thailand for me is seeing some of the crazys that live there.
