steffi
I like to eat Dim Sum occasionally and whilst I've been to Hong Min in MBK and M.K. I know there are other more specialised resturaunts about town. Two I've heard of are Dim Sum at Seacon Square and Dim Sum Palace I think it's called. Now I'm not looking to pay a fortune to eat Dim Sum so I'd settle on <50 baht per order. Typical price at the above mentioned places is 25-30 baht. Brink15
Steffi, I would assume for BKK it would be Chinatown, but the best dim sum I had anywhere in Thailand was Hat Yai. Incredible. Lots of shops open every morning for dim sum. I even had a close friend in Phuket who had a dim sum shop, but his stuff couldn't compare to Hat Yai. Closest thing to Hong Kong. steffi
Yeah it seems to be a lunch thing and most resturaunts I've looked into don't have any in late afternoon. Anybody know of a decent place in the Suhkumwhit area around Landmark? "The Green House" serves only two Appetizers that are two different kinds of Dim Sum and nothing to write home about although it does serve the most expensive Caffe Yen I've seen at 70 baht per glass. Old Hippie
On Sukhumvit, passed the Soi 10 gold shop (same side) keep going, I think across from Robinson's or so, there is a Chinese restaurant that sells the steamed buns and Moon Cakes etc... I think, I have seen the dim sum type steamers there as well, they may have a few items. Not really sure, as I haven't been in there to try it. Just a hunch really. steffi
I saw this the other day too on my travels but when I past there they had their dim sum out on the street and I was wondering if it was when they finished that they take it there or whether they are serving the stuff. I don't want to eat dim sum that's been exposed to all the polution etc ....
Old Hippie
I can see your point about the pollution! Maybe try to find a similar type place on a back or side Soi, and test is out!
Guest
There is a place in Siam Square...I live in HKG and it does not live up to HK standards but is okay for Bangkok standards....If you get out of Siam Square BTS station at the "Nana" end of the platform you will almost walk straight into it....It is on the corner of the main road and a small soi going into the "centre" of siam square...Not muvh to go on but will try too find more info. Performer
My favorite Dim Sum place is across from the Le Meridien Hotel (next to Sogo) in a resterant called Amarin Foodhouse. The Dim Sum is Hong Kong style and is only served between 10am and 3pm. It is really good and cheap also - about 30baht per plate. They serve Thai, Chinese and Japanses food also. They also do deliveries. Performer
samak
have found a place, where they also serve dim sum in the evening: joke club. it's at the intersection of sukhumvit soi 11 and soi 11/1 in the basement of swiss inn (or something like that). it is 60 baht per basket. the salapao are excellent, the dumplings mamahoohoo. they have a lot of other chinese dishes as well, cooked in an open kitchen. joke comes from the thai word for congee, porridge
