Guest
depends on the individual prostitute in question no?
think_too_mut
The landscape would stay similar for a while but the country would be about 1.5B US$ py poorer in sex related (incl accomm, food, drinks...) transactions and, can't guess how much porrer in non-existant "boyfriend send you money". How many people in hospitality and tourism industry out of jobs, in addition to the idle prostitues. Should somebody try to impose such measures, that would only add to the pool of available women and most likelly to increased crime rate.
Guest
but if u lose the sex tourists and the automatic association of Thailand with prostitution then you change its image completely and would then you would attract a different type of perhaps more family oriented tourists perhaps making up for the lost sex tourists perhaps you might also lower the socioeconomic health burden from sex related disease
Guest
I believe that you could ask the same question about any country. Better off....perhaps. Probable...in ANY counrty....doubt it.

Pom_Jao_Choo
If it were removed, or if it never were? No matter how much foreigners may have escalated the prostitution, it is there originally as a product of their society. What would have to have been different from the begining for it to not to have proliferated and what other affects might be had if it were not so? How changed would women and people in Thailand be?
