Plainsdrifter
Just bought my latest NYC-BKK ticket. Unfortunately need to wait overnight in HK on the return leg. Know all the hotels to stay in in Hongkong, but the layover is less than 9 hours so an airport hotel would be better. My question is: Has anyone ever stayed at a hotel near HK airport? Thanks
rchapstick
The posts I've read on www.flyertalk.com suggest that the airport hotel is a piece of crap. Personally, I'd take the train to Kowloon or Central, and stay in a decent place. A 22 min train ride is not that big of a hassle, IMHO.
buffalo_bill
Rchapstick, I did not find any posts about this hotel on that website, where are they ? Sure they are talking about the hotel at Chek Lap Kok or the old Kai Tak ? The Regal at Kai Tak was indeed a rathole, but the new one is perfect. 9 hours layover make probably 6 hours net hotel if one chooses downtown. Difficult decision because the Regal Airport would be 150 US at least. Bbill
Guest
I've stayed at the HK airport hotel 3 times in the last year and its fine. New, clean and not that over priced.
Bhat_Man
I had a friend who stayed their for 5 weeks whilst working in HK at the airport. He thought the hotel was fine and even found the hotel staff most accomodating, particulalry the maids IMO I'd get some kip at the Regal and forget about the MTR Airport Express to Central or Kowloon.
