Shenzen sanuk

I was recently in Shenzen and was surprised by the number of working girls standing in sidewalks; I was approached by at least 5 girls when walking within a block of my hotel in broad daylight! A few of the girls were really pretty; very young and I assume from the surrounding poor countryside. The downside: none spoke any English. This was my first time to Shenzena and I didn't know what the deal was; rules, prices, etc.

Has anyone had any sanuk experience in Shenzen?

Yes, loads, albeit most recently about 2 years ago.

There seem to be more discos per square kilometer there than anywhere else on the planet, not to mention the KTV places and nighclubs with huge floor shows and such. All have sanuk available.

The big problem in China is getting girls back into your room. In Shenzhen it was a little easier (they have loads of businessmen coming in from HK and know which side their bread's butteed on); not sure about the scene now.

The women there really are fantastic. My very first payforplay sanuk was in Shenzhen and the experiences still rate just as good or better than Thailand in terms of getting shown around and having the total girlfriend experience. Of course, I used to speak a little Mandarin, which helped. English is rarely spoken.

Thanks for the info. You said that getting girls back to the room could be a problem. Would there be problems with the hotel, or problems with the law? Also, do you have any idea how much the cost of Sanuk is nowadays? How much was it when you visisted?

I statyed at Shangri-La last time. There were girls available in the second floor pub, but they were asking for way too much money for short time; ~800 RMB!!

ziggy,

Shenzhen has a rep for pay-for-play among the Hongkies, and HK women arent too thrilled about hubby going off for a week in SZ ..

I believe that SZ has the 3rd highest cost of living in China, so you can expect to pay fairly stout prices compared to many other cities. Mandarin really is mandatory in most of China (Cantonese harder to learn, IMO, but common through sothern China) - even if they understand English ,they are often reluctant to speak the language. I didnt spend long in SZ, but in Guanxi my hotel arrivals and departures with my GF were greeted with plenty of scrutiny, but no attempt was made to hassle either of us. It may have been another matter if it was a different woman each time ....

CG told me that there were streetwalkers a few blocks from the hotel, but that it was a pretty rough area, esp for a Gwailo. Not sure if she was just trying to scare me, but I was happy to take solace in her arms :)

artiew,

shenzhen and guanzhou are within the " Special Economic Zone " which means as a Chinese you need a permit to settle there. Illegals would be rejected checking in a hotel , hence the scrutiny. Last time I have been there in October, first time I have been there I did feed the wild animals where now the Shangri-La is. The only thing that did change regarding working girls is just the price, neither availabilty nor quantity. One reason to refrain from sanuking might be that the awareness of HIV is even less developed than in Thailand.

BB,

Interesting. You may have read my post regarding the fact that the only people who are allowed into Australia from China 'unescorted' must be from either Beijing, Shanghai or Shenzhen. The city itself is a mind-blower : not hard to see why so many Chinese would want to relocate to such a modern and prosperous city.

Problems with the hotel not wanting to have problems with the law.

The prices you mention seem familar. I once picked up a freelancer in a disco, can't remember the price but I do remember it was somewhat cheaper than girls in a fishbowl/pub/disco.

artiew,

as we are talking about shenzhen sanuk. on the last flyover before you arrive at the Shangri-La there are several beggars who smash their forehead on the concrete all day long. obviously they seem to be bleeding heavily. is this for real or some kind of fake ? cannot imagine that anybody can survive this .

BB,

I'm afraid I have no knowledge of this. I can only postulate that desperate people resort to desperate measures.

I have read of chi (qi/qigong) masters who are able to headbutt concrete with no ill effects , but I doubt that they have to resort to begging for a living. These gents also delight in taking full-force kicks to the groin without apparent injury, retracting their testicles at will. Either that, or they are in a great deal of pain when the drugs wear off ....

I live in Hong Kong and go to the Shenzhen area on Business several times per week. I almost always have fun in the evening.

However, this is almost exclusively in the company of people who are very well connected locally. I would highly not recommend just picking somebody up on the street, and highly recommend that you be very careful with regards to the China law. Every now and then the powers that be in Beijing advise the local police to perform crackdowns. This is usually in the run-up to National Holidays, or visit by major big-wigs. At this time they will select random hotels, karokes, ect, raid them, arrest everybody. I mention this because again, you need to have locals who are well connected take you out. They will know the local police and will be advised if a crackdown is coming and which location is getting hit.

One more note, The area behind the Shangrila in Shenzhen is notorious for violence and crime. Many people have been kidnapped for ransom in this area. I have been advised by many HK business men to refrain from even walking in that area at night.

I don't mean to scare anybody, just want to advise the risks. Again I play every week in China, just have your wits about you.

Rates - Commonly 500 RMB shortime, 800 RMB long time. Certainly negotiable however.
