John_Betong
Hi all, Does anyone know any more information on the following: http://www.truecorp.co.th special offer. It seems quite a good deal but I do not like the way they specify their terms and conditions of 2,000 baht fine if you cancel the contract. My connection is very poor, on a good day I can get 31.2 kb/s! I will not tell you about the bad days but they are increasingly becoming more frequent:( Cheers, John Betong
khunsanuk
Hi, My first reaction upon seeing the price was to assume it was unlimited on LocalNet only, but I can not find any mention of that. If this is true global unlimited access, then it sounds like a very good deal. The 1024/512 for 890 Baht sounds like a dream. Sanuk!
Guest
This has got to be a scam, no doubt about it. Just ask them a few questions to find just what their definition of "unlimited" really means: 1. do international sites run at full speed? 2. are there international data transfer constraints? 3. how many hours international connect time are included? That should reveal what they are hiding.
khunsanuk
Hi, "1. do international sites run at full speed?" The text in Thai at the top does say something to the effect that international is included. I do agree that this sounds too good to be true though. Sanuk! Guest
For comparison, TT&T offers a 999 baht 2 megabit ADSL "unlimited" package in Chiang Mai including international. Sounds nice until you learn it throttles international access to 40kbps making it slower than a 56k modem!!! The 2 megabit part is only for web sites within Thailand. Suspect something similar here...

khunsanuk
Hi, "A freind got it today." Cool. Please keep us informed as to how he likes it. Sanuk!
Palatkik
I am correct in saying the True ADSL only works with TA lines? TOT lines have a similar deal I think from 500B http://www.tot.co.th/en/news/totnews_detail.php?news_id=211 would be interested in actual user reviews.. khunsanuk
Hi, John_Betong seems to be having some problems with Internet and has asked me to post the following: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi All, I have done my homework, telephoned True, 02 900 9000 x 9 and found the following: 1. True cannot offer the promotion because I do not have a direct line. I am currently on a switchboard 2. True reckon my apartment telephone already uses their service line so they will install a free line! I have requested the apartment manager to ask the powers to be if I can install a True line. (The manager reckons a previous request from a tenant was refused:( 3. True reckon I must buy their modem for 1,9360 baht if I select a package less than 40x. Selected packages of 40x or greater and the modem is free! download details: http://www.anetizer.com/download/True_promotion.xls (The spreadsheet shows what is most cost effective - keeneow number one!) 4. Minimum contract period is 6-month otherwise a fine of 2,000 baht is levied. 5. True reckon the limit is 100mb download/hour, more than that and it will be slow? 6. True reckon that surfing outside of Thailand is same speed as Thailand! 7. They require: a) Copy of my passport. Letter of acceptance from my apartment owners:) see note 3. c) Copy of Thai ID, I am not sure if this is the apartment owner or my teeruk:) d) 1,9360 baht cash if I do selecte a package less than 40x. 8. Ongoing cost depending on package and billed at the end of the month. 9. True telephone line may be used for normal outgoing calls while online? Must check on latter. 10 True reckons it will take 5-days to check if they can install in my area/apartment? 11. True have an office in CP Tower, Silom, near Pat Pong. 12. Keep our fingers crossed for me pretty please:) Cheers, John Betong PS. Many thanks to Stickman for the reference in his last weekly column. ----------------------------------------------------------------------
