cheekyboy
maybe its true and she does have a brain tumour or a large goitre on her neck they are common in Issan for some reason. So would you feel bad about it for not helping out ? what are the odds of it being true?

Old Hippie
maybe its true and she does have a brain tumour or a large goitre on her neck they are common in Issan for some reason. So would you feel bad about it for not helping out ? what are the odds of it being true? Unless I had some serious intention, as in marriage, her sick relatives are not my problem. We can save everyone, so no need to feel bad about it.

shygye
... but OH is a minister. Just send in your donation and he to will save you. Free medical care means all you have to send is a get well card.
Faustian
No BG is going to pay for the care of my relatives, likewise I wouldn't do the same. Equality is a bitch...

HeartThais
Do you really want to talk odds? What if I told you that the odds are 5% that it is true. Furthermore, there is a 40% chance that a 10K USD donation will give her the life-saving operation that will save her life. So now the question is would you give 10K to give someone a 2% chance at life? 1 in 50 is not all that low. We're talking about someone's life here. We rarely apply odds rationally anywhere in our lives. IMO there are two rational responses. One of them is Old Hippie's 'I don't give a fuck about anyone that I don't care about so fuck the odds.' Old Hippie
My understanding is, Thai have some sort of health care (where as we "Developed" Americans do not) and thus should NOT need our $$ to help with a sick granny. I would think any slightly savy farang/punter should know this.
