Windows 7 - Third Party Sales

What should I be worried about if I buy something like this??

Windows 7 SP1 All Editions (32/64 bit) Activated and Updateable - $25

This copy is a full version disk, bootable Only clean install with Internet Explorer 9. This is a corporate version so it is pre-activated and will install on any computer as many times as needed, installs 32 or 64 bit operating systems. Intelligently Activated!

This Disk will install Windows 7 SP1 Home Premium 32/64 Bit Windows 7 SP1 Professional 32/64 Bit Windows 7 SP1 Ultimate 32/64 Bit Windows 7 SP1 Starter 32Bit Windows 7 SP1 Home Basic 32Bit

???????????????????

I'm confused by this sentence: "Only clean install with Internet Explorer 9."

Does that mean it's a version that has IE9 and "clean install" means is not for upgrade, but replaces everything on drive c ?

Thanks,

Gaw Guy

Win 7 retail package comes with no disk, just an activation key written in the box. I bought it with laptop in 2010 at ITCity at BangNa, it was 4,000B I think.

What you have got is probably someone working for an IT dept of some company (or for a shop that sells PCs) who is using disks for installing a prescribed Win 7 image on laptops. He is selling that now.

"Clean install" means simply dump the image of disk with Win 7 structures on it without considering what is already on the drive nor asking what to do with it. You would have to back up what you have and later copy back under new directories created with new Win 7 install.

"Updateable" probably means you can update it as new service packs come along, even upgrade.

Intelligently activated means a series of serial numbers for a specific corporate account is OK'd online by Microsoft....I think.

Had a Dell disk like this that was for quite a few company laptops but it was Windows XP and Vista. It only worked on those Dell laptops.

With clean install pornography and business stuff can be lost so caution is in order.

Hi,

I agree with Coss. I would not trust any pirated OS from a Pantip/Fortune.

I even wiped my wife's last laptop when we bought it and reinstalled Windows on it. Just to make sure there was no crap on it (not just keyloggers, but there's usually plenty of other useless shit pre-installed).

Sanuk!

Problem here is finding programs that aren't pirated. Takes a lot of looking. Some programs that look almost genuine are combing down from China.

"but there's usually plenty of other useless shit pre-installed."

For the life of me, I don't even know what some of it is supposed to do. I doubt if they do either. First thing to do with a new PC in LOS is start erasing anything you have no use for (which is most of it).
