The tourists had enjoyed a lovely holiday in thailand and were all set to head back to the airport for their journey home. They loaded their bags up into the taxi and began negotiating a fair price from North Pattaya to Suvarabhumi airport. Hiroyuki Kakashima, 70, gave no explanation as to what started the Dec. 6 altercation, claiming he was walking by Tip Plaza near Soi 10 when he was surrounded by the hooker and four or five men. He said he was punched and slapped in the face several times, but managed to escape. Zhu Jiang, 28, complained to Pattaya Tourist Police Dec. 5 that his waterproof bag was stolen while he went swimming on Koh Larn. Inside was an Apple iPhone X, gold chain, jade necklace and a diamond ring. He had left the bag unattended on the sand when he went for a dip. He asked nearby jet ski vendors for help, but got no cooperation. Pol Capt Chann Kesornbua, deputy inspector of Pattaya police, was alerted to the incident at the R-Con Blue Ocean Hotel in Soi Buakhao at 3am. The body of Cook Philip James, 63, was found on the ground next to the hotel’s swimming pool. Staff said he had been living alone in a seventh-floor room for many days. A Thai woman had visited him occasionally but she had not been seen for a while. Police were called Sunday night to the I Love Pizza Art restaurant where they found Henri Gabriel Elfgang, 71, with an injured hand. His wife, a Thai national, told police the staff beat him and broke one of her husband’s fingers. Pattaya’s police chief said the Italian man was dissatisfied with his pizza’s quality and asked the restaurant staff to bake it again. After the second order also failed to meet Elfgang’s standards, an argument broke out which escalated into a fight, according to Col. Apichai Klobpetch. “They were arguing back and forth, and they were fighting,†he said. He added that initial news reports which alleged the staff ganged up on the Italian were false. Workpoint TV suggested that the tourist - clearly a Muslim in a headscarf - had been rude to staff.
