  1. Pre-op only? Well, then - delete, delete, delete. Sorry, I got nothin'. Post-op? Any committed monger these days has some experience, whether he knows it or not, is my conclusion (in my case, perhaps obviously, I know it - I know it now, that is, though at the time I was in the dark, so to speak.
  2. Indeed, I echo the bubi's ringing endorsement. If you are looking for a place to sit and read the newspaper in the mid-morning, and you do not desire a seat on the veranda (which is inhabited by immobile creatures) but rather a barstool in a dark and gloomy hall, this is the spot for you. Why it remains open and pursuing its current modality is anyone's guess, but there it is, a testament to the remaining opportunities for masochism in Bangkok: go here if your fetish is to suffer, and you will be rewarded. 3. The airport is a disgrace, true enough - Thaksin's Folly (though really, I suppose it worked out very well for him financially, aside from any contribution it may have made to him losing his job). For a new, massive airport, that one is indeed crap - attitude of service workers aside, every element is a failure. Glassed concourses heated to high temps on sunny days, smoking rooms without ventilation have doors propped open, added aircon units everywhere due to failed a/c planning make the place look like a cemetery marked by massive gray tombstones, interminable walks, buckling runways, embarrassingly poor signage and numbering systems, and yes - immigration lines not worthy of a tourism mecca... But I've never had a taxi problem from the airport, ever. And most staff have been nice enough. Either with or without the 50 baht upcharge, taxi's always been fair - we all pay 800 baht, right? Kidding. I've never had a problem. I'm dubious that someone who speaks Thai could not be able to ensure a normal ride - unless he has some enormous luggage, or is a total dickhead. I'm voting for the latter - a dickhead, who has tired of living in Thailand, but doesn't want to make the decision to leave and so is handing that decision over to the Thai authorities to make for him... 4. That was my suspicion - that there's an agenda to give Police (Thonglor specifically) a little slap-down, and that it's already had or is having its impact... Tough way and exhausting way to run a newspaper, always having to be on the lookout for which way the wind blows, and adjust accordingly! Although that's probably the default position for most of the newspapers in the world, to a greater or lesser degree - even just thinking about advertisers, if not political and censorship types of issues. Glad that's not my business!
  5. Yeah, me neither - and the one on the right's not bad, either! YimSiam
  6. The Thai way is an effective way, often - for the Thais, especially, and that's who a national strategy should benefit, of course! I suppose an interesting question is 'what would have happened in the longer term, had Japan been able to hold Southeast Asia?' But history has made the point more than moot! YimSiam
  7. I'm with JaiRai - I'm hardly a believer in the august Bangkok Post, but for them to be willing to run such a substantial article on the issue, I'm inclined to assume that there's an issue, and that it's an issue that someone is interested in having brought to an end... Glad to hear the instances are declining, as I would hate for this to be another deterrent to high-quality tourists enjoying Thailand and contributing to the economy! YimSiam
  8. Yet another instance where I'm damn glad to be out of my mind! YimSiam
  9. Had a girl I used to see regularly, she was obsessive about making me cum - to the point that if I was sleeping, she would undertake to carefully go down on me til I was fit for entry, then jump on top and get me off. I was a heavy sleeper those days, and it was more than once that I woke up from a crazy dream just in time to realize that I was on the verge of coming - and in that situation, you don't stop! Whenever I did come, she'd bounce around the room shouting "I win! I win" Ah, those were the days... YimSiam
  10. Flash, I see I had it confused - but jeez, with allies like that, who needs enemies?! So Thai... YimSiam
  11. Little did the USAF know that the Thai ambassador to the US had a copy of something like a declaration of war/alliance with Japan in his desk drawer, playing the usual Thai game of both sides... They might have been less enthusiastic about avoiding Thai targets...
  12. "Heirs to Forgotten Kingdoms" - Gerard Russell - a non-academic introduction to the minority and vanishing religions of the middle east - Mandaeans, Yazidis, Zoroastrians. Interesting stuff if you're in the region or curious about this kind of thing, and I haven't found very much similar available. YimSiam
  13. Edit that won't save: 'everytime i come IN to the hotel grounds...' I'm sure they don't mind what I take OUT of the hotel in the vehicle...
  14. I figure they'll somehow let the Chinese do the dirty work on the big train project, once it gets underway - they've got the clout to shut up world media, not just little webpage guys... As far as the dousing rods - I live in a war zone city, in a big international hotel, and fuck me if every time I come in and out of the hotel grounds, a motherfucker with the little dousing rod has to perform his little ludicrous theatre act of walking around the vehicle, dousing-for-dynamite, or whatever he pretends to be looking for. EVERYONE by now knows that those are 100 percent bullshit, and yet here we are at the best place in town, with serious security precautions in place (dogs, metal detectors, a solid corps of security thugs, etc) and they still "use" that bullshit. Amazing. Must be someone else just trying to protect their ass from getting caught out on corruption and mismanagement charges - "keep using it! keep using it! never give in!" Fucking stupid, and embarrassing. YimSiam
  15. Hm. Those photos would seem to explain how it is that I can go home with the one on the right, yet wake up with the one on the left...
  16. One of the charming things about Thai bargirls is how when they sit around chatting with each other, they still use pidgin English, oh the little scamps... YimSiam
  17. (One might think they would learn that there are better places for their reporting! First time, shame on you... second time...)
  18. Relevant if not exactly the same: Paul Handley, Andrew Marshall, Giles Ungpakorn, Eric Campbell, Nick Nostitz... even Jonathan Head for a bit.
  19. That's not just a read - that an investment in future earning potential!

  21. Yeah, that makes sense - and is funny. I was just hoping for something profound and novel about the effect of eye-widening surgery on the oral experience. Even after twenty years of Thai experiences, a man still hopes for something new... YimSiam
  22. Seems to me it's also part of cultivating this ridiculous 'little Japanese girl' persona. I like a girl with some character in her teeth - and I'm damn suspicious of a 'girl' who's had a couple of teeth removed, and has braces on to move the remaining teeth into position - that's pure ladyboy action right there... YimSiam
  23. Is this about the eyes, or the metal braces?! If about the eyes, I'm curious. YimSiam
