  1. Actually I'm wondering if this recent, tiny spate of Ai postings, is one of us, for whom the travails of age, or other misfortune, has left the writer unable, to complete or compose a post, in the traditional manner and is using snippets of Ai, to fill the content so as not to post incompletely. e.g. "I just wanna (insert Ai copy here) can say that (insert Ai copy here) high temperatures (insert Ai copy here) not plastic, real "
  2. Almost passable Ai , this ... Or a member with an Ai button at their disposal... Try referencing something we recognise as anasibrahim being a human we know or a genuine person... "during my online browsing adventures" - advice: this is akin to saying "when I use a computer to surf the internet and type with both of my human hands", it's extraneous, we know you're on the net.

    Brave VPN

After years of desultory security measures, that always see me, nearly signing up for a VPN, but always failing the test of, "Stuck in an airport lounge, with 2 minutes til boarding closes, I'll do it another time...". I'm considering my future, Lao/NZ/travel needs. https://brave.com/firewall-vpn/ Looks hassle free. Any comments ?
  5. Trump makes video appearance in New York criminal case, trial date tentatively set for late March Yahoo so it's true. I wonder when (if he hasn't already), he'll think that appearing by video will be advantageous, for all his legal troubles and that these appearances, could be from Riyadh or Moscow. This would be convenient, because then he doesn't have to run, when presented with Jail time, he'll already be there. also https://wisevoter.com/country-rankings/countries-without-extradition/
  6. There's a book in that - "Associations with a few Burmese Maids".
  7. UN expert says Myanmar imported $1 billion in arms since coup, much of it from Russia and China https://news.yahoo.com/un-expert-says-myanmar-imported-123953551.html $ 1 billion / Population 54 million = $18.51 per head. How much does a bullet cost? (Ammunition prices range from $0.08 for a 22LR round to $3 for a .50 caliber round.) Maybe they've got enough killing power now? I'lll admit to not knowing much about Burma, having been there once and not thinking much of it, and seeing bad things happen there in the media.
  8. Renfield (2023) Dracula's sidekick, played by Nicholas Hoult. Nicolas Cage shines as Dracula, I keep thinking that a whole new movie, for Cage's Dracula, perhaps written my Mel Brookes, is in order. An actress whose voice is riveting, is the amazing Shohreh Aghdashloo. Plenty of Kung Fu kicks and blood exploding (some really good ones) will keep the young watching. Overall a good movie, but a must see, for Cage as The Count.
  9. At this time I'm finding that ether AirNZ/Viet or Singapore, at about September, is a sweet spot for some good deals, mind you, some of the cheaper options won't check bags all the way through. Also an extra suitcase is in the order of $60~80 NZD which will be handy for my computer gear.
  10. Quite right and there's been a shooting like this about every other day in 'America. I refrain from commenting because, despite the nice Americans I know, from this board and elsewhere, when they start shooting each other, I just don't care anymore, because - 2nd amendment! https://abcnews.go.com/US/mass-shootings-days-2023-database-shows/story?id=96609874 https://www.gunviolencearchive.org/query/0484b316-f676-44bc-97ed-ecefeabae077/map Kong 'll like this https://www.gunviolencearchive.org

    Odds on a Coup

https://edition.cnn.com/2023/05/14/asia/thailand-elections-vote-result-monday-intl-hnk/index.html I'm going to go, for the extremely precise, mathematical representation, of: very likely.
  13. Finished the series - Bloody Good, a little dumbed down in a few parts, as is so often the case with TV from 'merica. But Kiefer Sutherland shines, as does Charles Dance. Meta Golding is my new fave hottie.
  14. I wasn't suggesting you were, only wondering if anyone would bring up anything about the story that made it more than a repeat
  15. Yes I though that, but as it was a "current news story" I though that there must be some nuance I'd missed, or something lost in translation...
  16. Thanks gents. KS, yes MLG paid 55k for AKL-MEL-BKK-VTE 5~6 hrs in the stopovers.... They're making it expensive and hard.
  17. Army Commander-in-Chief Gen Narongpan Jitkaewtae has requested that the media to stop asking him about the possibility of another coup after the May 14th general election and to stop reporting speculation about a coup, noting that the word “coup” tends to cause political conflict and should be removed from media’s vocabularies. Asked about the Move Forward party’s campaign manifesto, which advocates the scrapping of mandatory military conscription, General Narongpan said that political parties have the right to present policies and, likewise, the military has the right to defend the need for conscription... "does not know whether there will be unrest or peace in the next five months" https://www.thaipbsworld.com/thai-army-chief-says-coup-should-be-removed-from-vocabularies-of-media-and-army/
  18. Prayut Chan-o-cha, the incumbent Prime Minister of Thailand, is set to contest the upcoming elections on May 14 under a new party, United Thai Nation Party, following a split with the ruling Palang Pracharat Party which had backed him for the country’s leading role in 2019. However, even if he gets re-elected, the 69-year-old can only serve for two more years before reaching his term limit... “done, still doing, will keep on doing” https://thethaiger.com/news/world/asia/thailands-prime-minister-prayut-chan-o-cha-switches-party-ahead-of-may-14-elections
  19. After 9 years in Middle Earth, my plans now include excursions to Laos. MLG, has been back a handful of times, she has organised her airfares, in league, with an accomplice, a small Lao girl whose countenance suggests, nothing so much, as an immediate, French Maid's outfit. So when I come to research airfares, I'm both bemused and concerned, to find that sensible scheduling attracts a price of double what it used to be. It is true that airfares of olden time price levels, are available, but these entail, total elapsed travel times, in excess of 40 hours and handfuls of stopovers. My searching of the airspace entails Travelocity, Expedia, Skyscanner, Air Asia,Thai, Qantas, etc, etc. My question is, any secrets? School me. Please...

    The Nation Website

I guess it's just I'm old - like you I'm a Boomer - My use of Tech for Internet, is phone and tablet, for consumer use, like news sites, weather etc, so mainly - reading. If I must interact with a site, I generally step up to the laptop, for mobile use (i.e. flights and travelling). Tablet and Phone sites, tend to hide, many of the important gotchas, off page. Utilising computers for Business and Employment and over the years, web work, Photography (Lightroom, Photoshop), Music (Reason, Logic), and about 200 other programmes, now called apps, there's no substitute for a couple of big arse monitors on a desk, powered by a "cheese grater" Mac. One that in recent times, would have run a whole prepress unit in a newspaper or magazine house. And can also do DCS World to a satisfying degree. I did have three big arse monitors, but all the neck movement, snapping around when flying (simulated) hurt, so I rationalised to one 30" and a subsidiary. In Auto terms, most of the millennials etc, use a car, like an electric Nissan Leaf. Whereas my preferred computer stable, in Auto terms, is more like, 1 Nissan Leaf, 2 Toyota Supra, a big Range Rover and an excellent Ineos Grenadier. I count amongst my memories, my first restaurant, 1985, when I got a 512K Mac, put all my wages and books and taxes into an early spreadsheet proggie called Jazz. I was possibly one of the first small businesses to do so and when I got audited the next year, the Tax wollies sat in the corner of the restaurant for a couple of days, going line by line, through two boxes of Dot Matrix printouts and at the end found a $20 discrepancy. Which of course, I'd left there as a fish hook, to see if they'd find it Kong, when I used the term Moderners to describe you, I was implying that you were born post 60's, I now know this to be an error, but in that earlier post it was intended as a compliment, on account of you look so young.

    Cambodia - my Docco

The music, just some Khmer blokes I recorded in my travels, the video didn't get included in the docco but the sound did. Also there's some professionally released Khmer music, that was subject to a copyright claim, by the some musician. Youtube solved it, by editing out about 2 seconds of sound - automatically it seems. No worries.
