  2. Shanghai 2010 - Good movie, very accurate feel (what would I know ) of WWII Shanghai. Worth a watch.
  3. Whilst I am in favour of all-male places like this golf club becoming open to all, can anyone tell me why some Gyms are able to be women only?
  4. An unexpected side-effect of all this is that In Dunedin in NZ, they are muttering over their porridge about secession.
  5. Enemy 2013 - Interesting movie, outcome not obvious, a little arty but worth a watch

    Any New Jokes

New evidence has been found outside the Pistorius home that completely acquits him of his girlfriend's murder. Footprints. --- I heard a funny noise whilst in bed last night so I jumped up and did all the usual stuff - checked the front door, checked the windows, shot my girlfriend five times, checked the back door. Turns out there was no one there! --- I got woken up at four in the morning by a big black male burgling my house. I mistook the intruder for my gorgeous blonde girlfriend, so I accidently fucked him up the arse. --- Disclaimer - any references to race, arrived with the joke and are not endorsed by Coss

    Any New Jokes

"If you'd had a tin of shoe polish, you could have blackened her up and got away with it," I said to Oscar Pistorius, laughing. Then I realised that was in bad taste. Why would he have a tin of shoe polish? --- Disclaimer - any references to race, arrived with the joke and are not endorsed by Coss
  10. Bad Country 2014 - Usual - cop turns a bad guy to the side of good - Worth a watch. Out of the Furnace 2013 - Good cast, Christian Bale, Woody Harrelson, Zoe Saldana, Forest Whitaker, the little Affleck boy, et al - above average tale of brutality set in the Appalachians. Dark but good. Worth an attentive watch.
  11. North Korea is feeling 'positive' about Scottish 'Yes' Kim Jong-un is feeling positive about a Yes vote in Scotland and is looking to trade with Scotland if it gains independence, Pyongyang representatives have reportedly said. Choe Kwan-il, managing editor of the Choson Sinbo newspaper told The Telegraph he believes independence "would be a very positive thing for Scotland". Link
  12. Dom Hemingway 2013 - Very good, Jude Law quite unexpectedly excels in the title role. Titanic 1997 - a good movie - enjoyed by MLG more than I.
  13. Blue Ruin 2013 - Nice little, nasty murder flick. Engrossing. I Frankenstein 2014 - Started OK, soon it was so spectacular that I got bored with the constant Demon vs Gargoyle (the good guys) fights that peppered the movie. At the end I discovered why this was a let down, it was from a "Graphic Novel", which is sycophantic art speak for a Comic, you know, 12 pages of colourful pictures... We are Most Amused, not sure what year, 2008? The Royal Variety Show on the Prince Charlie's 60th Birthday. Featuring performances by Robin Williams and Joan Williams. Good
  14. All about Jack - Unmitigated RomCom chick flick bullshit aimed squarely at 13 year olds.
  15. Angel Heart 1987 - great movie, back when Mickey Rourke was an actor, & a plot that doesn't telegraph. The Rocky Horror Picture Show 1975 - Tim Curry's best performance, a good eyeopener for those (from SEA) who haven't seen it before.

America, land of the free ... er ... armed and ignorant.
  17. Tell you what, I took MLG to see the snow on Mt Ruapehu, and the walk up from the car park to the snow nearly killed me, lack of oxygen in the air with my unfitness, took it's toll. Death on the Nile 1978 - very good, from the days when they cast people to the part, rather than the part to the person. Peter Ustinov et al all very good.
  18. I rarely watch TV per se and MLG finds movies enjoyable. Munchie, still below sea level?
  19. The Frankenstein Theory 2013 - A bit amateurish - Worth a watch The Hobbit An Unexpected Journey 2012 - very good The Hobbit The Desolation of Smaug 2013 - very good The Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring Ext 2001 - An extended version 4hrs vs 3ish - many more character and plot developments, shit hot! The Lord of the Rings The Return of the King Ext 2003 - An extended version 4hrs vs 3ish - many more character and plot developments, shit hot! The Lord of the Rings The Two Towers Ext 2002 - An extended version 4hrs vs 3ish - many more character and plot developments, shit hot!
  20. 12 Years a Slave 2013 - Good, fine performances, a little handwringing though. Worth a watch. A Single Shot 2013 - Moody, could be better. Worth a watch. Gravity 2013 - Surprisingly good, seen it twice. If you've got a bigger TV, excellent. Bullock is excellent. Jack Ryan Shadow Recruit 2014 - Prequel for the Tom Cruise "Jack Ryan" starring one of those Vampire boys. But good never the less. The boy has a future in acting. Worth a watch. Last Vegas 2013 - Very likeable, a little light weight but Worth a watch. The Grand Budapest Hotel 2014 - One of the best crafted movies I have ever seen. Some unexpected stars in bit roles. Very very good. The Monuments Men 2014 - Standard Hollywood fare.

“We have to address the way that police in this country are armed as if they are invading a foreign land,†Mawuli said. “It’s disturbing, and innocent people are hurting.†Even in foreign lands, the killing of children is a no no. Well, to everyone except Muslims and Americans. It seems the Yanks have reached the precipice, the moment, where the "Good O'l Boy" version of civilisation, teeters on the brink, of the abyss of inhumanity. And I mean this, I really do... Elvis has left the building.
  22. I would imagine, that most of the Law Enforcement agencies in the U.S. are using Hollywood movies as training aids.
  23. I've seen lots and lots of "fit" 50~70 year olds, go all dead, all of a sudden, because of exercise. Others, who walk a bit, garden a bit and play bridge and drink sherry, hang around till they're 90 +

War Gear Flows to Police Departments NEENAH, Wis. — Inside the municipal garage of this small lakefront city, parked next to the hefty orange snowplow, sits an even larger truck, this one painted in desert khaki. Weighing 30 tons and built to withstand land mines, the armored combat vehicle is one of hundreds showing up across the country, in police departments big and small. The 9-foot-tall armored truck was intended for an overseas battlefield. But as President Obama ushers in the end of what he called America’s “long season of war,†the former tools of combat — M-16 rifles, grenade launchers, silencers and more — are ending up in local police departments, often with little public notice. During the Obama administration, according to Pentagon data, police departments have received tens of thousands of machine guns; nearly 200,000 ammunition magazines; thousands of pieces of camouflage and night-vision equipment; and hundreds of silencers, armored cars and aircraft. The equipment has been added to the armories of police departments that already look and act like military units. Police SWAT teams are now deployed tens of thousands of times each year, increasingly for routine jobs. Masked, heavily armed police officers in Louisiana raided a nightclub in 2006 as part of a liquor inspection. In Florida in 2010, officers in SWAT gear and with guns drawn carried out raids on barbershops that mostly led only to charges of “barbering without a license.†more..... http://www.nytimes.com/2014/06/09/us/war-gear-flows-to-police-departments.html?_r=0 and so it goes
