  1. Rob, I hear what you are saying but come Jan 2015 Malays and Singaporeans will be off the list come ASEAN open borders, same as a Thai can visit any other ASEAN Nation unrestricted. For Non-Imm O based on "Family Support" one already needs to prove 400,000 THB in the bank for 90 days previous for Non-Imm O Retirement 800,000 THB how can a married guy spend only half of a single man? My Question is why would a person need to be in Thailand on Back to Back stamps? One either works here, has family here or is retired otherwise deemed as an undesirable, Visa runners give honest farangs a bad name. You may think that I am an arrogant prick, so what I have been called worse, just my 2 cents worth. Chonburi Immigration used to raid our office at least 2 times per year, BANG camera in face where is your work permit, the company I worked for used to hold WP in office safe, Oh mr Mekong one moment please and WP produced, smiles and hand shakes and a mai pen rai later life went on.
  2. Personally I cannot see an issue with this edict, the majority of BM's that I know do have a legal reason to be here either Working, Supporting Family or Retired. As previously stated ASEAN kicks in Jan 2015 so for people such as Coss who has valid visa in Loas he will be free to come and go as he pleases, even I although I could get a Non-Imm O based on marriage I don't need too since I have a Temporary Residence Card in Vietnam and my trips back to Thailand are less than 30 days, come next year I just show my TRC and free to travel anywhere in ASEAN with unrestricted time constraints. OK maybe I have the "I'm alright Jack" attitude", som nam na I just wish that my own country applied strict controls as Thailand does the UK is Broke and getting more into debt every day due to the open borders policy, hence the reason I got out whilst I could.
  3. Missy, I think you Missy the point, majority of BM 's are non Thai therefore not allowed to vote therefore our thoughts aren't worth shit.
  4. In Thailand we call you Baloon Chasers Cav hehe
  5. We had another impromptu meet up last Thursday myself, The Corinthion and an ex BM who was known as "Black Tiger" (Suadum) plus a few other non BM's. Late August / Early September I will be back in Blighty for my god daughters wedding.
  6. ASEAN, remember, since Coss has a valid visa for Laos come Jan 2015 he won't need a visa for Thailand similar to me having Temporary Residence Card in VN. RM is doing the same as I am and not renewing his Non-Imm O since his trips back are less than 30 days at a time, if this law was enforced he could easily renew his Non-Imm O in Doha or waste half a day at Chaeng Wattana (if Suthep is not having a sit in)
  7. Personally I am all for it, if I chose to get my Non-Imm O based on marriage I need to show 400,000 THB in the bank, I wish my home country was as strict
  8. NO Why are you boring the board with useless observations?

Al Jazeera is remarkably more impartial towards Israel than both CNN and BBC. I do like watching the English Channel on CCTV, (China Central Television) CCTV-9 banned in Vietnam which makes it more fun to watch hehe.

This is the reason why I find Al Jazir more impartial than BBC or CNN both online editions or broadcast news

  13. What do Democritus, Epicurus, Andrew Carnegie, Ivan Pavlov, Sigmund Freud, Alan Turning, Warren Buffet, Carl Sagan, Bruce Lee, Stephen Hawking, Mick Jagger, David Gilmour, Steve Wozniak, Douglas Adams and even Mark Zuckerberg all have in common? They all appear on the list of the 50 Most Brilliant Atheists of all Time. http://brainz.org/50-most-brilliant-atheists-all-time/ Even Karl Marx is oft misquote with his line "Religion is the Opiates of the Masses" was never said by Marx, it was Marquis de Sade in his 1797 publication L'Histoire de Juliette "Religion Merely Acts as an Opiate" What Marx did say in his own Journal Deutchsch-Franzosische Jahrucher in collaboration with Ruge was "Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people". Marx went on further to explain the meaning behind this. "The foundation of irreligious criticism is: Man makes religion, religion does not make man. Religion is, indeed, the self-consciousness and self-esteem of man who has either not yet won through to himself, or has already lost himself again. But man is no abstract being squatting outside the world. Man is the world of man – state, society. This state and this society produce religion, which is an inverted consciousness of the world, because they are an inverted world. Religion is the general theory of this world, its encyclopaedic compendium, its logic in popular form, its spiritual point d’honneur, its enthusiasm, its moral sanction, its solemn complement, and its universal basis of consolation and justification. It is the fantastic realization of the human essence since the human essence has not acquired any true reality. The struggle against religion is, therefore, indirectly the struggle against that world whose spiritual aroma is religion. Religious suffering is, at one and the same time, the expression of real suffering and a protest against real suffering. Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people. The abolition of religion as the illusory happiness of the people is the demand for their real happiness. To call on them to give up their illusions about their condition is to call on them to give up a condition that requires illusions. The criticism of religion is, therefore, in embryo, the criticism of that vale of tears of which religion is the halo.Criticism has plucked the imaginary flowers on the chain not in order that man shall continue to bear that chain without fantasy or consolation, but so that he shall throw off the chain and pluck the living flower. The criticism of religion disillusions man, so that he will think, act, and fashion his reality like a man who has discarded his illusions and regained his senses, so that he will move around himself as his own true Sun. Religion is only the illusory Sun which revolves around man as long as he does not revolve around himself." There has been a lot of research done on the Correlation between Religiosity and Intelligence http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religiosity_and_intelligence#Studies_comparing_religious_belief_and_I.Q. and also about Political allegiances http://edition.cnn.com/2010/HEALTH/02/26/liberals.atheists.sex.intelligence/ So to be honest as a Liberal Atheists I just look down and Laugh at the Bible Bashers, Tub Thumpers et all and just laugh in their faces, figuratively speaking not physically, the same as I do at the Right Wing Extremists. A slightly longer Rant but factual
  14. Maybe lost in Translation, similar to english sounding Beautiful is the Arabic Word for Child / kid / tyke / nipper etc, so maybe a better compliment and he was calling you a young man, but knowing Arab Insults it was probably an Arabic insult much as in the UK we may refer to somebody as "Son" even though that person maybe older than us, a way to take control. Sorry to shatter your illusion Munchie but enjoy your short break back in Dubai. <<<--- Makes Mental Note to Self "No Need to Remember Arabic anymore, No Intention of ever returning to Middle East or the UK"

  20. For those unfamiliar with the case National Security Council is not an elected position but Thawil was put in the position by the previous Democrat administration and was rather outspoken about PT overall. Now if Yingluk had just replaced Thawil with the then Police Chief Pol Gen Wichean Potephosree that would have been constitutional, the issue was she replaced Pol Gen Wichean with Pol Gen Priewpan Damapong who just so happens to be Thaksin's Brother in Law, nobody believes that his divorce from Potmajan was done for nothing more than political and legal reasons. Having National Security Council a PT sympathiser and the National Police Chief as inner circle Shinawatra, very close inner cycle the Brother in the Law of the one pulling the strings of this puppet government and still in control was too much for the Senate hence the reason this case was brought against Yingluk and the caretaker cabinet ministers who signed off on it. The NACC may announce whether to indite on the Rice Pledging Scheme tomorrow, this will definitely be cases against Yingluk, Kittirat and most likely Siriwat but it would surprise me if the NACC did indite then the same ten names will be on the list. Could this be the beginning of the end of the Shinawatra Clan, it is beginning to look like it.
  21. The nine are Deputy Prime Minister Pracha Promnog, Labour Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung, Deputy Prime Minister Plodprasop Suraswadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul, PM's Office Minister Santi Promphat, Information and Communication Technology Minister Anudith Nakornthap, Deputy Defence Minister Gen Yuthasak Sasiprapha and Deputy Agriculture Minister Siriwat Kachornprasart. Basically some of the closest allies to the Shinawatra Clan
  22. The Constitutional Court on Wednesday dismissed caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra from office, ruling that she abused her power by transferring National Security Council Thawil Pliensri. The nine Cabinet members involved in the unlawful transfer of Thawil were stripped of their positions. "The Prime Minister's status has ended, Yingluck can no longer stay in her position acting as caretaker prime minister," a judge said in a live televised ruling. The remainder of the cabinet can continue working, the judge said. The judge said Yingluck violated the charter on the transfer of Thawil from position of National Security Council. The transfer of Thawil Pliensri from the post of National Security Council chief was unlawful, unconstitutional and unethical. Yingluck Shinawatra had a hidden agenda in ordering the transfer and also intended to benefit a relative. The court thus ruled that the transfer was prohibited by the law as it was unethical and a conflict of interest. The Court ruled that only Yingluck and nine other Cabinet members who took part in Thawil's transfer must be removed from the Cabinet. The others, who were not members of the Yingluck Cabinet that approved Thawil’s transfer, can remain in office as caretaker Cabinet members. The court also ruled that the caretaker Cabinet can continue its duties until the new Cabinet takes office. The Constitutional Court ruled that it has no mandate to order the appointment of a new prime minister within seven days as requested by the complainant. The request to the court to order the appointment of a new was made by Senator Paibul Nititawan during the trial on Tuesday. Paibul filed the abuse of power suit against Yingluck http://www.nationmultimedia.com/politics/Charter-Court-dismisses-Yingluck-and-nine-cabinet--30233068.html
  23. Well considering that the constitutional court have just ruled that the transfer of Thawll from the post of National Security Chief and replacing him with Pol General Wichean who was then in turn replaced with Pol General Priewapn Damapong who happens to be her brothers Brother in Law ,was unlawful, unconstitutional and unethical, and she and 9 senior members of her cabinet are no longer part of the caretaker cabinet she is already out of Politics. The NACC (Anti Corruption) are expected to make their announcement tomorrow on the corruption in the Rice Pledging Scheme.

    Annual Check Up

Well, it was not as bad as I was fearing, the preparation is far worse than the actual procedures, the evacuation of the bowels spending half of last on the toilet and the other half not daring to sleep for fear of having a "wet fart" in bed. 16 hours of no food and drink. I thought the procedures would be done under general anaesthetic, but not to be, my Consultant uses his own method. For the throat endoscope they spray the throat with some sort of numbing spray and I never felt a thing. For the actually colonoscopy they put you on a drip of muscle relaxant and I would call it more irritating than uncomfortable of painful. All in all took about an hour followed by another hour in the recovery room to allow the muscle relaxant to wear off. I expected to have a sore throat or a sore butt but no after effects apart fro being lethargic which probably more due to the fact I had very little sleep last night. I got positive results, all clear next check of this type due in 2019.
