  1. The Ipad app has very bad/negative reviews and has not been updated in 3 months - so will give it a pass for now. Anyone who is actually using it and has some first hand comments?
  2. One day an old German Shepherd starts chasing rabbits and before long, discovers that he's lost. Wandering about, he notices a panther heading rapidly in his direction with the intention of having lunch. The old German Shepherd thinks, "Oh, oh! I'm in deep stuff now!" Noticing some bones on the ground close by, he immediately settles down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching cat. Just as the panther is about to leap, the old German Shepherd exclaims loudly, "Boy, that was one delicious panther! I wonder, if there are any more around here?" Hearing this, the young panther halts his attack in mid-strike, a look of terror comes over him and he slinks away into the trees. "Whew!," says the panther, "That was close! That old German Shepherd nearly had me!" Meanwhile, a squirrel who had been watching the whole scene from a nearby tree, figures he can put this knowledge to good use and trade it for protection from the panther. So, off he goes. The squirrel soon catches up with the panther, spills the beans and strikes a deal for himself with the panther. The young panther is furious at being made a fool of and says, "Here, squirrel, hop on my back and see what's going to happen to that conniving canine!" Now, the old German Shepherd sees the panther coming with the squirrel on his back and thinks, "What am I going to do now?," but instead of running, the dog sits down with his back to his attackers, pretending he hasn't seen them yet, and just when they get close enough to hear, the old German Shepherd says... "Where's that squirrel? I sent him off an hour ago to bring me another panther!" Moral of this story... Don't mess with the old dogs... Age and skill will always overcome youth and treachery! BS and brilliance only come with age and experience.
  3. Hmmm... doesn't look very promising in ole Dubai for a 2 day stopover next week. What else to do there? Is Friday/Saturday the weekend? Or is there still a half day work on Friday? Hotels - any recommendations? Staying on my own dime so don't need the 5* ones!
  4. Rookie - the Japanese didn't screw it up - K. Purachai did! When Thermae was forced to close between 1:00 am and 2:00 am - that was it's death. It has gotten a might bit better over the last year (or so I've been told). Cheers!
  5. God's Army You can't make this stuff up!
  6. Bangkok 2000 I'll let others fill in the gaps for this year. If was right after Y2K, the world didn't fall apart and the economy was on the rebound after the lean years of 1997-1999. - TFB started the e-Girls campaign (has it been that long)? - God's Army where in the news when they took over a hospital in Ratchaburi - ending up getting themselves all killed in the process. - Skytrain opened officially 5th Dec 1999, so year 2000 was the first year of operation. Most of the sky bridges were not in place. I'm drawing a blank - what else happened in year 2000 in Bangkok? Must have been a good year, or I must have slept through it all.
  7. For a 23 year old, she sure looks - well - older is probably the best way to say it.
  8. But - if we let you engineers sell.... Customer: "I need to buy this program for our company." Engineer: "Ok, after customization and testing, it will be ready in about 18 months" Customer: "Oh, sorry then - we need it now" You need a combination of a good sales/marketing person and even better engineers/software developers.
  9. An oldy but a goody! Need to click to open/read it.
  10. Hot Tub Time Machine will be released on Blu-Ray and DVD on June 29, 2010. There will also be an "Unrated" version.
  11. Well, moved on directly to Into the Wild - but this was a bit different as I had read this book a few times before seeing the film. Still, got some good details and background from Wiki and enjoyed the movie. Cheers!
  12. Tonight was "The General's Daughter" - one of my favorites - I thought it was John Travolta's best movie. Was surprised to see that it gets very negative reviews: The film had generally negative reviews with 22% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes with 19 out of 86 critics giving it a positive review with an average rating of 4.3/10. The general consensus is "Contrived performances and over-the-top sequences offer little real drama". Next up is Moulin Rouge. Over the weekend there were showings of Mad City (another Travolta flick) - but also about 100 viewings of Lethal Weapon 2-4 (why not Lethal Weapon 1?)
  13. For some reason I just don't do movies anymore. Maybe due to the fact that I worked in a cinema during my high school years so I got burned out on the whole scene. The only movies I see are on planes it seems. Anyway, the point of this post is for watching movies on the TV. I've gotten to the point that I'll pull up the Wiki or IMBD page for the movie and read the summary at the same time as watching the movie. That will lead me to YouTube or DailyMotion to watch specific scenes or videos of music featured. And will Wiki link all the main actors or actresses of interest. Is this normal or am I weird?
  14. Sorry, but even with http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rolf_Harris I don't get it. I undersand the MJ and two little boys - but how does it relate to Rolf Harris????

  16. Joe Smith started the day early having set his alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN) for 6am. While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA) was perking, he shaved with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG). He put on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRI LANKA), designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE) and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA). After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet(MADE IN INDIA) he sat down with his calculator (MADE IN MEXICO) to see how much he could spend today. After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN) to the radio (MADE IN INDIA) he got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY) filled it with GAS from Saudi Arabia and continued his search for a good paying AMERICAN J O B. At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day checking his Computer (MADE IN MALAYSIA), Joe decided to relax for a while. He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL) poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE) and turned on his TV (MADE IN INDONESIA), and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job in.. AMERICA .....

Importing Wine ? Not very easy and definately not cheap to do this. A. Duty: 60 % of CIF value of the wine. B. Excise Tax: 1.7647059 is the factor. This is not the percentage, but the factor to put into the excise equation to determine the tax. C. Interior Tax: 10 % of Excise Tax. D. VAT: 7 % of (CIF Value + Duty + Excise Tax + Interior Tax) The total duty, excise tax, interior tax and VAT can add up to about 300% of the "cost" of the wine. Take a look at the low-cost wines sold in Foodland/Villa, and calculate backwards to see the actual wholesale cost. I'll look up the Excise Tax formula when I'm back in the office and post it here. Cheers!
