  1. Is this fair? The China airline wants to charge for an extra seat. “A China Airlines flight landed in Alaska with an extra passenger after an expectant mother gave birth to a baby girl more than eight weeks early.†LINK
  2. You just gotta love these guys. "WASHINGTON — House Republicans will gather Friday morning to begin figuring out who, if anybody, is in charge. Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy shocked his colleagues Thursday by abruptly dropping out of the race for speaker at the beginning of a meeting that by all accounts was prepared to nominate him for the job. LINK
  3. Yes, Unit, it seems to be 'get Hilary' . . . at any cost ! "A gaffe, in Michael Kinsley's famous formulation, is "when a politician tells the truth — some obvious truth he isn't supposed to say." On Tuesday night, Rep. Kevin McCarthy — the overwhelming favorite to succeed John Boehner as speaker of the House — made Kinsley proud. During an appearance on Sean Hannity's Fox News show, McCarthy bragged that the House GOP's investigation into the Benghazi attack had made Hillary Clinton's poll numbers plummet. Furthermore, he presented it as part of a "strategy to fight and win," rather than a nonpartisan effort to find the truth." LINK
  4. What? The whole “Bengazi†thing was political? " a partisan investigation" Good Lord. “Washington (CNN)A former investigator with the House Select Committee on Benghazi is accusing the Republican-led panel of carrying out a politically motivated investigation targeting former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton instead of the thorough and objective fact-finding mission it was set up to pursue. Maj. Bradley Podliska, an intelligence officer in the Air Force Reserve who describes himself as a conservative Republican, told CNN that the committee trained its sights almost exclusively on Clinton after the revelation last March that she used a private email server during her tenure as secretary of state. That new focus flipped a broad-based probe of the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi on September 11, 2012, into what Podliska described as "a partisan investigation." LINK
  5. "The House of Representative is in chaos. John Boehner announced his intention to step down as Speaker at the end of the month. There doesn’t appear to be anyone to take his place. The leading candidate, Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, abruptly withdrew from the race yesterday. Another popular choice, Paul Ryan, says he’s not interested. What happened? How did we get to this point? One document, produced by the House Freedom Caucus, holds all the answers. Framed as a “questionnaire†the document effectively makes it impossible for any candidate to both: 1) Get elected speaker, and 2) Not send the entire country (and maybe the world) over a cliff." 7. Will the Chinese use pop rivets or regular rivets? What is the tinsel strength of the rivets?
  8. Can't get it. . . . . . But now I am stuck with the image of that lady bikers arse !
  9. I do understand that some do like mixed drinks and/or hard liquor. Me, I only drink bottled Heineken. But I suppose that could be spiked also. Yes good advice from Torneyboy. . Reminder to keep eyes on drinks.
  10. Well, I hope someone here can chime in with a repair shop/person. When in LOS I used to as Izzie - who used to live at the Nana Hotel (later a condo nearby). He knew where to go for everything. But the flip side is - is the shaver worth fixing ? I have an older electric shaver (discontinued model) that I like - and when I need a replacement - I just go to eB*y and get another.
  11. I mean in hotel rooms. Are "they" watching me in my hotel room in Thailand?
  12. Decades ago while wandering thru one of the hotel lobbies near Nana/Sukhumvit. A cute gal in passing states to me - "You have baby." Well a tad overweight at the time. So far I have lost 40 pounds. Took a few years. A little at a time. I now have a BMI of 28. Still overweight but still going down. I'll be happy if I get to 14 stone. Still overweight but not by that much. First I cut out all sugar. Specially the soda. Cola, Pepsi, etc. Gave up most alcohol a long time ago. Still have a Heineken now and then. But few and far between. Cut out as many carbohydrates as possible. Now I have to worry about my pants falling down.
  13. I got the opportunity to view Donald Trump up close in person at a private party in August. Quite interesting. He certainly can get a crowd all worked up. Certainly a different kind of 'politician'. Interesting to view all of the media up close.
  14. Internet Explorer. Is it dead or ending? Yes, I also have Firefox, Chrome, Safari. This is just about Internet Explorer. Has/is Microsoft dumping it?
  15. Ashley Madison. My life may be ruined now that this site has been hacked. What do I tell my 3 wives?
  16. I downloaded Windows 10 from Microsoft web site. Didn't receive any notice on computer as other here have. An older Dell XPS 410. Came with Vista. Upgraded to Windows 7 few years ago. All went smoothly. All worked. But, the size on monitor was too "large" or whatever the term is. After reading a bunch of "stuff" on web, came to conclusion that my graphics card was too old and not Windows 10 supported. Once I installed a new graphics card - all looks perfect. Now have to learn all over again where items are. Added widgets/gadgets. Probably hackable but I don't have anything to hack on this computer other then pictures of naked young firm Thai gals.
  17. Don't want those stinkin' poor folks voting. AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- A federal appeals court ruled Wednesday that Texas' voter ID law has a "discriminatory" effect on minorities in a victory for President Barack Obama, whose administration took the unusual step of bringing the weight of the U.S. Justice Department to fight a wave of new ballot-box restrictions passed in conservative statehouses. The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the 2011 Texas law runs afoul of parts of the federal Voting Rights Act - handing down the decision on the eve of the 50th anniversary of the landmark civil rights law. Texas was allowed to use the voter ID law during the 2014 elections, thereby requiring an estimated 13.6 million registered Texas voters to have a photo ID to cast a ballot. The ruling was a victory, albeit not a sweeping one, for Democrats and minority rights groups. Whereas a Texas federal judge last year called the voter ID law the equivalent of a poll tax, a three-judge panel of the New Orleans court disagreed. It instead sent the law back to the lower court to consider how to fix the discriminatory effects.
  18. I need to find a new 'sanctuary city' myself !
  19. Well, my Logitech Google TV has lost youtube videos. Stuff gets outdated, I guess. The Logitech Google TV had a neat feature. You could go to Google and type in . . . say. . . Bangkok Nightlife . . . and go to videos and click on any one of them. And the youtube videos seemed to randomly go on all day long . . . if one wished. Some boring but some quite interesting. The videos - some long - some short - went on and on that seemed random. One day I went to Google/Youtube on the Google TV and typed in . . . Vietnam . . . and clicked on one youtube video . . . and viewed an interview done by some independent person . . . interviewing RVN former officers still interned in the "Re-education Camps" somewhere in remote Vietnam. God Bless the holdouts. Neat feature gone on my Google TV set top box. Maybe time to upgrade my old electronics. And maybe time to turn in my rotary dial cell phone.
  20. Two of my three visits to Vietnam have been as a tourist. One to Hanoi. One to Saigon (HCMC). Both tourist visits exhibited a "general" at immigration at airports. And both "generals" had a bad attitude. Maybe, just maybe, . . . . . both remembered me from my first visit to Vietnam. A remote possibility to be sure. But possible. And that fact may have tarnished their attitude on my two visits to Vietnam as a tourist.
  21. Don't travel to London and expect to play tennis with that black bra you have hidden in the back of your drawer. "On Tuesday, Canada’s Eugenie Bouchard was penalized for her black sports bra that was worn underneath her white sports bra." "Wimbledon has always been very concerned with the clothing of its competitors." LINK
  22. Supreme Court. I politely disagree. I think that this is exactly what the founding fathers sought. They knew that the legislative branch and the executive branch could potentially be composed of elected fruitcakes. That the Supreme Court was appointed for life - and not elected. The Supreme Court has made some really bad decisions over the centuries - but has always seemed to correct itself. The Dred Scott decision comes to mind as one of the bad ones. Franklin Roosevelt was the only president that attempted to rig the Supreme Court. His New Deal programs were being voted down by the Supreme Court. Roosevelt attempted to add 3 more members to the Supreme Court - make it 12 members. That failed. In the early days of the Republic there were serious disagreements as to which direction the country was going. The system prevailed as set forth by the founding fathers.
  23. If you don't like the courts rulings - just do away with the court. Republican presidential candidate Jindal is all for this. Jindal, born a Hindu, has conveniently converted to Roman Catholic. Gotta get those hard core Christain votes. "Gov. Bobby Jindal (R-La.) condemned the Supreme Court on Friday following its ruling legalizing same-sex marriage nationwide. “The Supreme Court is completely out of control, making laws on their own, and has become a public opinion poll instead of a judicial body,†the 2016 contender said in a statement. “If we want to save some money, let’s just get rid of the court,†Jindal added."
