  1. Wouldn't surprise me at all that the original was full of inaccuracies (lies). From what I know (admittedly little) I think USA is the ONLY country to grant citizenship based on place of birth. Is it constitutional like the right to bear arms? If so seem that whole document needs a teachers note in red, DO AGAIN!!!
  2. Hmm, taxi driver economics. I've no time to do the research but would be interesting to note Thailand's neighbours approach to this. Compare relative taxi fares over the last 15 years in say Singapore, Malaysia, maybe Indonesia, Hong Kong, Philippines, possibly Cambodia. What does the market say?
  3. I have this on my office wall. I work with several Italians so it comes in quite handy. They've learned to follow along on the chart when we have discussions.
  4. I'd think military personnel stationed overseas could, if they ordinarily live in Scotland. Expats probably not if they are non-resident. I did though see on TV an interview, think it was around February time, where Billy Connolly stated he could vote but most likely wouldn't. At least he wasn't saying he would on TV with all that would likely prompt. His saying he could though suggests he must live in Scotland even though he indicated at the time he lives in US, hmm.
  5. The Russians, and Chinese, don't care.
  6. So they should rename it, soi happy ending 😄
  7. A drill that nobody had been informed about? Not really a drill then is it?
  8. That seems an odd statement given how well practised we are at it 😄
  9. Hmm, who's the hotttie in the pic?
  10. A vpn fixes that problem. Was just another sad tale of sad folk being cleaned out by, er, well Africans its seems No surprises.
  11. It's gonna take a very special Cessna to match some of the taxis I've been in over the years and airworthiness wouldn't be a particular quality I'd expect.
  12. Hmm, I'd have to go look to be honest on that one. Looks awfully like a birth certificate I recall. They did want to see this when we did their UK passports and I see on the website that that now seems unnecessary. Mind this was 12 and 13 years ago so highy possible things have changed. Don't think there was a border agency back then either, lotsa changes recently.
  13. Is that a likely outcome? "Oh, velly solly, Thailand have many pompen now, need coup and reform first, join community Asean now cannot, maybe nex time, velly solly'.
  14. We never went to any office. Everything was done at the hospital and they delivered the birth certificates to the room. Had these translated autheticated and then registered in UK as well so both kids have two birth certificates, one Thai, one UK, same name on both. Both were born in Bangkok so both registered as Bangkokian from birth. That seemed as important as anything I recall.
  15. Boh my kids have very western names, no Thai names and no nicknames. It's in both Thai and English on their ID cards. They were both born at Bumrungrad and nobody said anything when they were named indeed they were very particular to make sure the spelling was as requested.
  16. But for the involvement of foreigners that sounds like the cookie cutter Thai soap recipie. Live in suburbia amongst Thais who typically own their own homes and can afford to run a couple of cars and you soon see they almost pursue the Thai soap opera as a life goal.
  17. No longer eaten? Obviously no knowledge of the traditions of Porterhouse college Cambridge then!
  18. And figuring out how they can use the situation to crank it to the max! He went to 100k early on so what would it take to make it 1 mil?
  19. Much of the Hope-less pillars have disappeared to make way for the MRT red line now being constructed out to Rangsit. A problem that seems totally unaddressed is that (not only) Thailand seems obsessed with project based building. Of course this is a great way to create "pension schemes" but were they serious about railways, or any other large scale infra-structure operation there would be a continuous budget that would allow for building, maintaining and upgrading as necessary and over the years and decades ahead. It seems there are so many areas where a budget is granted and a project is built with no thought about funding for maintenance and upgrades such that it's a constant process of going back to the bosses to beg for more.
  20. Hmm, well a murder suicide certainly does not seem like a learned response that can be unlearned.
  21. I thought that was always the plan. Drinks and off quotas cover the salary. SOP
