36hr erection drug for sale

By Judy Skatssoon

February 05, 2003

FROM today Australian men will be among the first in the world to access a new 36-hour erection drug being marketed as a rival to Viagra.

The timeframe may sound a bit scary for wives and partners but the makers of Cialis, Eli Lilly, stress the drug requires sexual stimulation to take effect.

Cialis is available on prescription, with a four-pill pack costing about $75.

Compared with Viagra, which is taken one hour before sex and lasts for about four hours, Cialis begins to work in 16 minutes and provides couples with one and a half days of opportunity.

Dr Michael Gillman, from Brisbane's Health Institute for Men, said Cialis worked in the same way as Viagra by targeting the PDE5 enzyme to increase blood flow to the penis during stimulation.

It was not affected by food or moderate alcohol consumption, unlike Viagra which was best taken on an empty stomach, he said.

On the down side, Cialis can cause headaches and stomach upsets.

It can also be deadly if taken with nitrates, which are used for the treatment of angina and are popular in the gay community as recreational drugs.

Men who could not have sex because of cardiovascular problems should also steer clear of the drug, Dr Gillman said.

"The people who shouldn't take either Cialis or Viagra are the same, they're the people who are either on nitrate therapy ... or those who are not cardiovascularly fit for sex," he said.

Cialis will not be included in the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) in line with the federal government's decision last year to exclude erectile dysfunction drugs - including Viagra and Caverject injections - from PBS listing.

Cialis reportedly caused a minor controversy last year when the Cialis family, of Kent, England, learned to their horror that they were about to share the name of an erection drug.

Eli Lilly expressed sympathy with the family but decided to stick with the name.

It says the name is a play on the expression "the sky's the limit", based on the French word for sky.

Ever tried to go to the toilette in the morning after eating Viagra? When in the need of a crap, what are you doing with your boner? Raise it? Sink it? Not that funny, except your bg is watching it ... :o

I've never had that problem, as the prospect of my morning dump, while satisfying, doesn't excite me that way. ::

Btw, whenever I've taken Viagra, it hasn't been affected by more than moderate alcohol consumption and has lasted around 12 hours, as opposed to the four stated in the article.

Does this new stuff make your face and eyes red in the same way as Viagra then? There are also a couple of other drugs out now that work on the brain rather than the penis to achieve their effects.

Wow,

I am excited about the price in BKK/ PNH (hopefully no fakes there).

Well, the "boner case" happened in Cambo. I was waking up early in the morning, didn't want to wake up the Viet beauty. However, I didn't lock the door, she woke up tho, saw me in the bathroom and she was laughing her ass off.

This new drug, as well as Viagra and it's clones, dilates the blood vessels which allows the penis to fill more readily with

blood if sexually stimulated. But, this is the reason why it may cause headaches in some.

The chief risk is cardiac. If an individual, who has taken even a small dose of Viagra, suffers chest pains (within a time period of up to 72 hrs. after taking the Viagra) and winds up being treated at some E.R. with nitrates (to treat a probable M.I. or even to alleviate pain from angina) the blood pressure can crash and drop to zero; and, there is basically no chance of resuscitation.

Cardiac risk factors and level of cardiovascular fitness must

be carefully considered or professionally evaluated.
