Guest
I do not believe the 100 baht figure is correct. I know the papers say 100 baht, but I have spoken to some of the girls and some do get arrested. Check out the local prison after 10:00 PM at night. That is when they release prisoners and also do prison transfers. A lot of the prisoners are prostitutes and lady boys. The businesses that pay the larger bribes do not get hit. Those that are free lancers are prone to get arrested. Add to the variables that APEC is about 2 months away, we can expect some major changes. I almost forgot, being the Daddy of daddy's of the massage parlor business has been accussing the police and everybody else of corruption, I guess we can expect extra repercussions from that also. What happened to the good old days?
Guest
"Every night, at least 30 prostitutes aged between 20-40 wait for customers around Sanam Luang. They look better than the ones around Khlong Lot. They serve customers and charge them about 500 baht excluding hotel fees..." Sounds more like an advertisement doesn't it... Pom Michael
BB, You sure about that date? The government announced "public" holidays for Friday, 17 Oct and then again for Monday 20 Oct through Wednesday 22 Oct. 23rd Oct was anyway a Public Holiday for Chulalongkorn Memorial Day. Might as well take off Friday 24th too ! Here is the schedule that I have seen for the two main meetings : October 17-18, 2003 15th APEC Ministerial Meeting October 20 ? 21, 2003 11th Informal APEC Economic Leaders? Meeting Cheers!
