i always took little cuddly toys and they went down a treat.

i also took Cadbury Creme Eggs and they used to fight over them, they loved them.

we all know how much they love their hot food,so i used to marinade pickled onions with chillis and chilli powder for around 4 Months.

i would leave them in the Bars and they would soon be finished.

as to the perfume aspect.

i have never bought any for the Girls but i used to buy Deodorant for myself.

whenever i used it(many times a day)they would say i 'smelled nice' and could they try some?,they liked it.

whenever i left i would raid the shops and buy some for them.

they liked it as a gift.

Not so much unusual but an absolute success story is little 6-8inch teddy bears, preferably wearing something akin to a Paddington bear outfit. I have never been so amazed at how well these are received. IMHO far better than perfume or chocolates.

Also, my GF whenever she is in UK with me she always buys tacky tin money box souvenirs of Big Ben and buckingham palace etc to give to her friends. last time at LHR she bought 8 of the damn things. Oh and coffee cups with pictures of tourist attractions as well. She says they value them because they know they cannot get them in Thailand (that surprised me - I thought they would be made or copied at least somewhere in Thailand!!!)

One thing that has gone down well in my pre-GF life was bringing over to one cute little gogo dancer some hold-up black stockings from marks and Spencer or somewhere like that. She and all her mates in the bar thought they were fantastic - so did I when I got to take them off later !!!!! They seem to like the fact that they dont peel over and roll up which is how I ended up offering to bring her some back from my next trip to the UK....

Cheers

Concerning parfums:

Two of my friends (working girls) asked to buy a parfum for them.

My GF bought a parfum for her and her friend when we were shopping in BKK. She asked me to send one for her friend from farangland. (I sent three parfums, for her, her friend and her boss.)

She had nothing shorter of 210cm (7ft) of parfume bottles lined up along the window.

Thai parfums? Parfums in BKK are really expensive and most of them not very good.

Have you ever asked your GF why she doesn't like parfums? Just because of the "go away" symbolic?

Best regards

I've found international perfume's to be quite similar priced & available in Asia(LOS) & Europe(North) depending on the deals found on any given day...

One TG mentioned she liked a certain brand(davidoff) & actually preferred the male version so I ended up buying 2 at central(one for her & 1 for me) as her gift for a weeks or so entertainment

Lately I brought the little mermaid figure as well as a small funny keyring featuring a royal guard proposing for that very mermaid :p Those gifts went down very well & was considered very romantic & cute :cover:

Other than that a few girls have asked for some good western porn, but it's too damn expensive in europe :doah:

Still no washing powder given, but who knows... :neener:

Reference the perfume theories - I also consistently get asked to bring perfume by Thai female friends of the non-BG variety eg. a forty five year old travel agent in BKK that I have known for nearly 20 years, a 30 year old factory manager in Chiangmai and a 28 year old secretary also in Chiangmai. (None of these are "romantic" associations - all just genuine friends.)

I guess it's "horses for courses", and everyone has a different opinion, though I did ask the two ladies in Chiangmai as I had also heard the same as you. They both replied to the effect "Why on earth would you think that!!"

Aye, never heard of the "go away" symbology, but have the "buying" of the perfume. I was told that perfumes are *only* for significant others. Therefore, traditionally, if giving to another lady, she must pay you for it so things are not misintrepreted. Even my ma-in-law gives me one baht for a nice bottle of Chanel #5 (boy, is she a shrewd businesswoman :D).

Cheers,

Some of the things she likes:

body lotions

Sugarless candies

non-calorie sweetners for coffee

low fat dairy creamers

laxatives

A Thai man who was my Thai language teacher wanted a 14K necklace. He believes they are 'nicer' then the Thai gold. I could not figure that one out.

For myself

magazines (some I buy at a used book store. Some issues are current)

books

blank CDs (on sale)

photograph paper for printer

batteries for cam recorder and camera

Oh yeah, Body Lotions and Creams. I am always amazed to see how excited wife gets when we enter a drugstore (like Boots) in Europe. She could spend hours there, and spend hundreds of Euros ...for friends and family. Not even the really expenisve stuff, but more products of popular brand names (like Dove/Nivea etc.)... appearantly Thais like that stuff, but the productrange in LOS seems to be very limited compared to Europe/States. And hey, you should see her friends when she ditributes it. :-)

One of her best friends is a stewardess with TG, and she always gets huge orders when people know she flies to the states or to europe.
