OCgringo
I was on United last Monday Full flight , the lady at the desk said that the Narita flight was usually full because United cut the direct Hong Kong flight. Decent flight , slept thru most of it. The second leg was a United Code Share with ANA, this gets you to BKK at 10:15 which is nice . But the hassle at Narita is barely worth it, First you come off the United flight and ANA is in another terminal #2, so you have to go first thru Narita securtity m, then walk forever to the shuttle bus forterminal 2 , then take the bus and another Narita security check , then to the gate, This is a real pain , and for the extra hour or so extra time earlier arrivak in BKK is barely worth it. Went upstaires to arrivals and got a taxi to Nana, not as easy as you would thing as lots of others are doing the same thing , but the taxi driver was happy to have a return fare and I did not have to mess with the taxi mafia downstairs ! Overall the flights were good but full , but next time I will not taker the ANA code share part

I think I will pass this one up and take the one that gets you in at 10:50pm. THat ANA flight sounds like to much hassle.

samak
last year when i flew with UA, i was told that NRT BKK leg was full and i had to go with ANA. the flight arrived in Narita with delay and i had only less than one hour for the transfer. i had to wait 20 minutes for the bus. when i arrived at the terminal 2 they told me, that my ticket (discount fare) was only good for UA; after some discussion they let me on the flight, but said that due the queue at security and the needed time to go to the outer wing of the terminal by train it was too late (!). i immediately called UA and complaint and made a big noise. they said that the UA flight was full, but i should come to the other terminal. i rushed again on the bus and at the other terminal was a UA guy, who apologized and escorted me to the last seat in the plane, 10 minutes before take off. another guy in the same situation was not so lucky. i do not know whether this was due to the harsh complaints or due to my status. on the other hand i also made some trips on ANA and i think they are quite good; service IMO better than UA

Guest
What the thoughts on the deal with upgrades etc. I'm a UA 1K, just from the Sanook runs alone, and possess lots of perks such that I never ride coach and pay cheapo. I'm ticketed to the front row of Bus all the way to BKK and I pay on $585 from a U.S. departure! So Why do all the hoops to get in an hour earlier.. Point, If you're not on the Frequest Flyer perks just go China and get in in the afternoon! Shite, I like some layover in Narita for shower and streatch out a little even thought UA Bus is very good! OCgringo
well until you do it the first time you do not know its such a hassle , I will not do it again just to save an hour......
atticusblue
I just booked at the UA website which allowed me the option of NRT-BKK via United or ANA. The reason I chose United instead of ANA was because the seat selection feature wasn't available had I chosen ANA. And after reading the posts on this subject it looks like I would have missed my shower at NRT had I booked ANA.
BKKNUT
Well OCG I guess im going to see if the hassle is worth that extra hour. I found a fare I could not pass up so im going to try the ANA flight out of NRT. I just hope I make the bus to terminal 2 in time.
OCgringo
its not horrible if your flights on time, and same with me , the available flight was either LAX-SFO_NRT_BKK or LAX-NRT-BKK with the ANA part let us know how it works for you, maybe I just had a bad day !
