Brink15
I remember that old line from the Blues Brothers when Jake asks what kind of music they have at the bar. "We have both kinds, country and western." Yee fucking haw. "If you're outside mowing your lawn, and you find a car, you might be a redneck." "If you think a family reunion is a good place to find a date, you might be a redneck." And damn if I'm not surrounded by them.
carew66
Hmm - interesting list. Like - they're all cunts. Looks like my granny's gramophone collection. Music isn't judged by the money made. It's ART for fuck's sake. ART!!!!! Go out NOW and buy any album by The Fall; there are plenty. They aren't on that list - but they might MOVE you, make you think, piss you off, help you over a break-up, get you through exams, whatever... Sure, some of the people on the list managed to make albums for bored salesmen driving up the M1 but for fuck's sake don't think that SALES mean anything (or if you do then kill yourself now). Philo-fucking-stines.
carew66
Sorry Brink15 - not aimed at you, I just tagged onto the end. While I'm here though - 'Rolling Stone' LOL! LOL! LOL! Rolling Stone is Vanity Fair for shiny arsed fuck-wits. Jesus Fucking Christ, when was the last time that 'Rolling Stone' ever meant anything? About 1976? (Bit generous I think as I did used to like Bangs and rock journalism over there died with him.) If they are writing about it in the 'rock press' (sic) then it's already dead and buried. (Sorry guys - I'm pissed off my tits again)
Brink15
Actually you bring up a good point as I hadn't even commented on the list itself. Mainly because I was confused as hell as to whether this was the top money earners of 2004 or 1974. Stones? Eagles? I didn't even realize these old farts were still touring.
