Hmm - interesting list. Like - they're all cunts. Looks like my granny's gramophone collection.

Music isn't judged by the money made. It's ART for fuck's sake. ART!!!!!

Go out NOW and buy any album by The Fall; there are plenty. They aren't on that list - but they might MOVE you, make you think, piss you off, help you over a break-up, get you through exams, whatever...

Sure, some of the people on the list managed to make albums for bored salesmen driving up the M1 but for fuck's sake don't think that SALES mean anything (or if you do then kill yourself now).

Philo-fucking-stines.

Hi

We all like music!

Just great that my band Sir Mickand the boys are number 1 :neener:

Actually you bring up a good point as I hadn't even commented on the list itself.

Mainly because I was confused as hell as to whether this was the top money earners of 2004 or 1974. Stones? Eagles? I didn't even realize these old farts were still touring.

The Rolling Stones "We're Still Fucking Alive" Tour - Watch as Keith Richards plays a screaming guitar while attached to life support, See Mick strut on that new hip prosthetic, sponsored by Viagra.

Is top money earners (2004)...ticket sales and other stuff sold at the concerts.

You have to give it to Sir Mick....he knows the business

Ok Brink...how many Stones Albums in your collection :dunno:

I don't go to rock concerts and I don't buy CD's but I understand why other people do. The audience for these old farts has grown up with the bands. They go to concerts to celebrate survival. They don't mind paying $100 or more for tickets just to feel young again for an hour or two or to hear Hotel California played life one more time. The difference now is that not many groups have the staying power. :)

Oh thank you...a breath of fresh air

These guys/bands are playing to the faithfull and newbies that have heard of the songs/band and want to see them

live

The $$$ just goes to prove the point...IMO :neener:

I'll join you for a beer but I'm not a Stones fan. Tell you the truth I think the Stones are overrated. They've done a few Rock classics like Satisfaction, Brown Sugar but I think Keith Richards is a mediocre guitarist and Jagger is basically a poseur. But they do put on a good stage show and they know how to generate excitement....They've done well to last so long but I think their appeal now is mainly based on nostalgia. :)

It's interesting how pissed off younger people feel towards sixties groups. In their hearts they know the great days of Rock and Roll will never come back. That's sad.

Hi Chuck,

6tees and punkrock is my fave music.

I listen to a lot of new music as well, but the Stones still touring, give me a friggin break. All these clowns should've been forbidden to perform 10 years ago at least!!!

Make room for new bands.

And yes Carew, you're spot on mate!!!

Live at the witch trials.

'forbidden to perform' ? Sounds like the Taliban. For the sake of harmony on the thread I will assume you are indulging in a little hyperbole. I will also assume that Carew is feeling grumpy something I do myself sometimes.

Music? New bands? There's plenty of room for new bands...but where are they? I'm not talking about one-hit wonders and gangstas or who's got the most piercings. Where's the talent that lasts past the first MTV hit? And who's paying when it's available for downloading on the net? OK next. ::

The reason that 'nostalgia' bands are doing so well is simple : not everyone wants to listen to Eminem telling us how much he hates the f*cking world ! Whether the 60's 70's or 80's really were that much better is irrelevant - its the music that many of us grew up with, and its soothing in our old age :neener:

I still see a *huge* difference between the punks of the 70's and todays rappers, BTW. I can listen to a lot of the current stuff, but it just doesnt have the same resonance as the Ramones, Pistols, Clash etc. I'm sure a lot of 14-year old kids would disagree with me, but thems the breaks.
