mongatu
I heard you are not supposed to bring more than 2,000 baht Thai currency into Thailand. That seems ridculously low. Anyone ever have any problems carrying a bit more into the country with them?
check_bin_krap
As far as I know Thai currency used to be impossible to get legally outside of Thailand in banks. That time has passed, but there should be a Thai customs WEB site where you can check it up (too lazy to search myself)! Your info is old. Cheers! mongatu
I checked further and the info (which btw was printed on the back of the visa application form sent to me by the Royal Thai Consulate General) on currency importation limitations is indeed incorrect or out of date. Apparently there is no limit on the amount of Thai or Foreign currency that can be brought in. Makes sense since they want us to spend money there. Guest
Don't worry. If you are carrying in excess, just declare it and leave it with the authorities at the airport. No need for a receipt.
Guest
Changed over 120,000 foreign money into baht at the airport and had no problems...except for the 'knowing' look of 'you are going to have a fun holiday' that the young clerk gave me when handing me the big wad of baht. elef
Hi, the only limit I know of is the one EU and USA pressed Thailand to impose - more than 10 000 USD in any currency must be declared. Baht is available in all banks and bigger foreign exchange places all over the world. elef
Nervous_Dog
I only see the sign saying no more than $10 000 US? JB
Encore
Why carry so much in cash, when with an ATM card you can get all the cash out of a machine all over LOS?

Guest
LOL, hidden behind that thai smile indeed. Sometimes the ATM machines are f*cked, so it's good to have some reserve money just in case. cheers.
