soongmak
Only in Boot I could change anything, however re-starting the LT, I get the same shite all over. However, hitting F12 when starting up, I get into Boot, I choose the Hard disc, but then I get "SMART FAILURE on hard disc 0", which I delete with F1 to start my OD up...... and from there on,. all is ok. I suspect that you have a hardware problem indeed. It has nothing to do with the Norton Ghost op you did. Every computer wiill have set in its bios a certain starting order and AFAIK, the hard disk is always included, be it as first, second or third device. your system simply won't boot, only if you change some things manually and overide the systems warning for your harddisk failure. Is your laptop still under warranty? Regardless, I would call the Toshiba's service line, walk through the startup procedure and ask their advice. Good luck, I think you need it. check_bin_krap
Do you still have the disk you ghosted from? Can try to put that one in - and if no errors, its the disk.

check_bin_krap
I love the Toshibas for their robust, good design. They beat the crap out of Dell and HP Compaq. But support it? Headache big big time... Crappy driver service. Few good technical advices. HW is good, but they will die if they do not fix other aspects of their organization. carlton68
BB, just my brain is a bit slow. This harddrive and laptop you have problems with is the same as some time ago where your system would only boot up every other try? I think the recommendation by many of the posters included to do a thourough disk check. If this is the same laptop and harddrive I can't help but say you could have spared you the current problems back then, right?
BelgianBoy
Khun C, Yes, you are right, same fucking laptop and harddrive :D Even throwing it to the wall never helped. But as its working fine anyway, only starting it up which I do only like 2-3 times a week, so I decided to wait till GF is back. Besides cooking and taking care of me, she is also my IT specialist BB waiting for her
carlton68
"Besides cooking and taking care of me, she is also my IT specialist" Yeah, saw that somewhere in another thread. As said before, buy a new harddrive in advance, maybe ask her about the model, once she's there she'll be done quick.
BelgianBoy
C, Cant do that, need to bring my Tishiba to the shop, where Toshiba will replace the HD with a correct one. But I need her here, so I can use her laptop in the meanwhile..... Cos its in network, and wireless. And I can get a replacement laptop, but unconfigured for my use so better wait as all works.....
