Anyone using dual monitor set-up.

Just bought a sleek LCD flatscreen monitor and hooked it up via the VGA card to operate alonside the old CRT one. The difference in quality is startling.

I'll eventually replace the CRT with another flatscreen as I've found that having two monitors side-by-side is great for design work though at 17k a pop, they're not cheap.

As for gaming, 'Surround Gaming' could be the next big thing.

This is where 3 monitors are connected to your graphics card. Unfortunately, only one card supports this. The Matrox Parhelia.

Many games don't support this so game directory files have to be altered.

I'm gradually working towards this and hope to have a complete system by the end of the year including an AMD 64-bit processor.

Where I work we use systems with four 19 inch LCD screens. Its really nothing more than one big screen where you have enough workspace for opening extra windows. Also, to me anyway, graphics, spreadsheets and text look great on LCD screens, but high quality CRT?s still seem better for pictures and Photoshop stuff where there are lots of colors and detail. Before long though LCD?s will probably be better in every way.

Hi,

Oh, boy, this sounds awfully cool :)

As you said though, price is a serious deterent :(

Sanuk!

Most definitely.

I'm limiting myself to one piece of hardware a month so hopefully prices will drop as time goes by.

Such is the pace of technological advancement in both hardware and software, I'm amazed at what's on offer at Pantip after every other month or so. Problem is that some graphics cards now cost as much as a PC. The aforementioned Matrox Parhelia costs 17,300Bt in Pantip.

Ouch! ::

How and the F are you going to watch 3 screens after a few beer chang! Let me know when there will be a thrice screen porno! Sounds very cool.

Well how about this? A porno on screen one, a game on screen two and Nanaplaza forum on screen three. Even after some Chang's I'm sure you could manage to watch at least one of them. You could even screen-surf. ::

They're nearly there. Look for a fast response rate of less than 16 ms. Just need the prices to drop now.

Thing is, it won't be that long before LCD's are old hat as plasma screens are coming in.

Anyway, roll on Half-Life 2.

Not sure about that one. Plasma is ok for big screen video, but LCD?s have a much sharper and superior image. Also, plasma screens burn with a fixed image, so not really suitable for computers. I think LCD?s will dominate until a better technology comes along.
