I think it has to a lot with $$$$ Just look at the color of the girls who market/model the skin care products. Who is the audience? Who is going to be the purchasers? Who cares if the greater population is different if they can't relate or flip side don't have the purchasing power if they do relate. It doesn't sell their merchandise. They use white skin girls because it sells but a lot of groundwork was set initially as IDing them as what people should aspire to.
