OCgringo
I will be in Thailand for 3 weeks in November All the times I have been to LOS I have not gotten out of Bangkok. This time I would like to leave for 2-3 days and go to the beach, Looking for a clean beach that I can go in the water if I want , from what I have read this pretty much leaves out Pattaya. I will probably go mid-week so I do not need to worry about crowds also will probably bring my own "sand" to the beach so not to worried about nasty nightlife. Need a place with 500-1000 baht hotels , TV for the "sand" when she gets bored and a clean beach. Also not too far of a bus or taxi ride away (1-2 hours max) Any ideas ? thanks OC
Straycat
Cha-Am / Hua Hin - couple of hours south from BKK.

Guest
I found Ko Samet a good place for a few days escape or a long weekend.

torrenova
By road, I'd choose Hua Hin or Cha Am but plenty of other places within 2 hours. Just fly.
OCgringo
flying is not really an option , I want a place I can take a bus / train to and know I can stay longer or leave real soon if I want. Or send the "sand" back to BKK if need be.....
Nervous_Dog
before you rule out flying, have a look at some of the prices, you can get some great deals. Can't remember how I got to Ko Samet, I took a bus both times, was a little worse for wear from the previous night, and slept, I thought 3 hours max! By the way depending what time of day you go, hua hin can be up to 3 hours, really bad traffic at times. DOG
Saiphon
I used to take a taxi from Sukhumvit area to Hua Hin. Fastest time - about two and a half hours. Cheapest pre-negotiated cost - 1800 baht. That was a couple of years ago. Plenty of hotels in Hua Hin fit the bill requirements.
