whosyourdaddy
I would not risk it unless you have a real problem and at your age the problem is more likely keeping it down than up

spirit_of_town_hall
Just to update you I went back to my doctor and he has prescribed me Ramipral 5 mg tablets which I am now taking. I saw him last monday gone ( 17/1/05) and on ( 20/1/05) Wednesday I saw a cardiologist which he booked for me. The cardiologist looked at my heart using an "echo". I saw it beating on a monitor which we both looked at. Thank god, he looked and said the heart was very healthy. I thought it may have been damaged through over indulgance. No adverse effects from the mediaction at all, I go back next monday for a follow up. This is all provided on the NHS ( free) he gave me a months prescription for the pills ( free). I go to Los next week for 3 weeks and my prescription will run out in 3 weeks. Can I buy Ramipril 5mg when I am there , and how much will it cost. Guest
Hight blood pressure is related to stress. While there are other causes such as diet alcohal intake and weight are also factors. If being is LOS means you feel less stress then talk to your employer about taking a leave of adsence due to stess related illness and spend a year in LOS. whosyourdaddy
If you cant get Ramipril you can get other Ace inhibitors that would tie you over. Have you got the dry cough from it yet?
Guest
i also had high blood pressure, and did not look at it, until i landed in hospital and they must do heart operation, now i know what i did wrong, and do it better, yes, you have to live healthy life, no smoking, no drugs, not too much alcohol (2 glasses red wine is healthy), do sport, walking, swimming and bicycling, 2 hours a day, eat not too much fat, not salty, not cholesterol.... and your life will change without high blood pressure by the way, dont use viagra, or others, because they give you higher pressure, and maybe heart attack.... New Petchburi Pete
There is one beta blocker, Tenormin (atenolol) which is the only one that does not cross the blood - brain barrier, hence no adverse sexual side effects. Atenolol is available in LOS; and, it's very inexpensive. The lower figure is more significant. 90 is borderline high. Also, there is a psychological phenomenon (I forget the name), and it's fairly common. Many people's b.p. goes up merely because they're being seen by the doctor (or a stunning nurse!). If one has their pressure taken first; and, it's 90 or above, many physicians will ask the patient to sit down and relax for awhile and repeat taking the b.p. ... frequently, it drops below 90 ... but, not for all. Without a doubt, losing weight, quitting smoking (all combustibles), drinking less alcohol, avoiding caffeine, not over eating at a single meal, and a regular exercise routine can help. Also, slow, deep breathing exercises & meditation can lower your b.p. Try to relax more ... naturally. Despite all of this though, certain individuals develop high blood pressure sometimes for reasons unknown. Getting the lower figure below 90 is important in reducing the risk of stroke or heart attack. Oh, I almost forgot ... definitely avoid driving in Bangkok!
