Psychiatric services

I need information on a good place to go in bangkok if one had a psychiatric disorder.

I am thinking about some farang friendly, with consultations heavy on advice and explanations and drugs if necesssary.

If anyone has good information on the above I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

There used to be an organisation based down Soi 33 called Community Services of Bangkok who employed a number of western-trained counsellors. When CSB closed down, I am fairly sure that the counsellors set up an independent group but I've no idea what they are called or even if they still exist. Worth some googling.

The only option I know of would be through one of the big private hospitals like Bangkok Nursing Home or Bumrungrad. If you check the Bumrungrad website,

Bumrungrad

in the 'Find A Doctor' section they have 6 psychiatric specialists on the staff - you can read their CVs and choose who you want to see.

One thing I would ask is, is this help needed for a sick farang or for a farang trying to help a damaged Thai person?

Too bad about your wife.

Fortunate, the accident happened to your wife at the work place - at least the medical should all be paid for.

The part that bothers me is when you say she is delusional and paranoid - if she had been injured - that is one thing - but not sleeping - that could be the cause of what you say is being delusional/paranoid - sleep deprivation. What you might need is a good medical work up - that is with blood test to see exactly what her blood chemistry is.

I suspect you have already gone to some doctors and got the same treatment - pay/leave. Try finding one that will find out exactly what is going on. Easier said then done.

That Bummy list does not appear to be fully complete. I know that there is also at least one farang (Yank) on staff who speaks Thai quite well. I do not know his contact info, but I am sure he can be found through the Bummy operator/main number.

Good luck with your wife Antbears. I think Bumrungrad is the place to head...

Cheers,

SD

I think that is what is going on MightyMouse.

Trauma from accident caused poor sleeping and now she is suffering symptoms outlined, sleep deprivation mainly.

Money is no problem and the insurance covered the accident and the medical bills.

I am going to try and get her into Bumrungrad tomorrow. getting her to go is the problem.

Thanks for the contacts and advise.
