Zaad
Hi, I need to renew my passport. I checked for info on the Embassy's website, but nothing useful found. 1. Do I need to bring any other document than my passport (and a few passport-size pics)? 2. I need to keep my old passport in order to put the newest visa into the new passport. Is that a hassle? 3. Thanks.
samak
i had to renew my passport twice in bangkok: - old passport is enough, no other document - they do not allow to keep 2 passports; you can keep the old until they issue and give you the new one. so you have to plan! i had once to transfer a visa on to a new passport and paid an additional 1000 baht or so! this might of course vary from country to country
..
Ya, rules differ. The US gives you back your old passport. They simply cut the corner off of it to show it is void. Well, at least they used to -- dunno now since 9/11. Cheers, SD
Zaad
Thanks for the feedback guys, I surely hope they return the old one. Not sure how I can handle it if I don't have it. I'll give them a call later this week.
BelgianBoy
Zaad, Passport is enough, and after you obtain the new one, you'll also get the old one back, albeit void, just like SB explained. I'd phone the consular dept first, just to make sure on the paperwork, pics and baht to bring. BB
Zaad
I hope you're right about getting the old one back, can't imagine why the hell not, and yep, I'd better call them to make sure I have everything I need.
