Best hotel for under 800bht in Pattaya?

I stayed at Pig and Whistle on Soi 7 for a week recently. Looking at the entrance it's just a restaurant, but they have at least 2 or 3 floors of rooms of good standard and size. 700 baht and really good English food (if you like that kind of thing).

Advantages are:

They have another entrance on the sub soi that connects soi 7 and 8 so you can go straight to the lift.

There's a cheap laundry opposite this entrance - 5 paces, maybe 6

It's a smallish place (compared to a large hotel) so the staff are friendly and helpful, and some are cute!

If you hire a motorbike, you can park it outside above mentioned second entrance with some degree of security. Can put helmets inside.

No ID taking - guests are your responsibility.

Mild porn on 1 channel on TV.

The rooms are large-ish.

Disadvantages:

No Pool

Have to pay cash - no credit card - mai pen arai.

Book ahead - popular place

Cheers

Tip, go to the old guy who lives behind Sutus court (arguably better bang for the buck on that soi at 650 baht because of the bed and pool) right next to the JP and Opey Dey. He will rent you a brand new or a very old bike for 100 baht. So if you do not rent one for 100 you are even more mad. The old guy is very personable also, he's got stories, buy him a beer.

The place with the french sounding name is Opey De Place.

I have stayed there a 2 or 3 times. Low season about 730 baht and high season about 790 baht.

A word of warning... Make sure you get a receipt for the payments you make. I had an early morning check-out and the clerk was unable to find any record of my having paid.

Luckily I had copy of the receipts in my wallet so all was fine. I mentioned to her that she should remind the clerks to make sure that the guests receive receipts to prevent any miscomunication problems. Of course on the next trip I had to remind the clerk to give me a receipt. Oh well, maybe I look like an easy "mark."

Here's the link - it has a brief slide show so just click and wait a few seconds.
