" Unfortunately, India's per capita income is 100% less than British per capita income, which means the Gurkha must return to Nepal and receive only one/hundreth part of what he would have received had that clause not been there." Gurkha history

The person writing that surely was sleeping during all maths hours in school, 100 % less is always ZERO. :: Rest of it shows he meant 99 % less, which also seems almost impossible.

Let me guess that a soldier in the british army has a salary of 800,000 baht per year, 100 % less is 0 baht, 99 % less is 8,000 baht. If we compare with the poorest parts of Isaan - is it possible for a family to live on less than 700 baht per month? Is it even possible in Nepal?

I don't trust wikipedia in future.

Hi dog,

The nationality requirements for the army are:

Nationality

You must also be one of the following:

A British citizen

A citizen of the British dependent territories

A British overseas citizen

A British subject under the British Nationality Act 1981

A citizen of an independent Commonwealth country

A British Protected Person

A citizen of the Irish Republic

Your are Australian, I believe, which (last I heard) is an independent commonwealth country - so even you are eligible! ::

Khwai
