I am a lot calmer now, I am feeling more confident, thinking more clearly. . . thanks to the support from you guys on this board. I haven't left town, but I did follow some of the advice on this board. The "planting the yabba" threat was reported to the police in Pattaya. And they have made a note of this, should anything happen to me regarding a setup. They were not suprised, and said that TGs in Pattaya are threatening farangs with this tactic all the time. Anyhow, she came home drunk again around midnight -- happens almost every second night -- and started shouting at me when I am trying to sleep. She threw her shoe at my face, hitting me in the eye. Then she spat in my face. I will always remember her whiskey-smelling saliva on my face. That was the final straw for me. I told her we were finished, to get out of my house immediately, that minute. She just laughed of course, so I phoned the tourist police. When they arrived, she burst into tears. (How can TGs do this so perfectly on cue?) She started sobbing, talking in a little girl voice, asking them for help and telling them I was the big bully. The cops weren't buying any of that. They waited for her to collect some clothes, then took her away in their squad car. That was around 2am. Time to get some sleep, and move on. Now if you think that was the end of it ... you'd be wrong. I woke up early in the morning, to the sound of a male voice at my front door shouting "HEY YOU!" (Don't you just love it when Thais address you in that manner?) I didn't even have time to take a piss or wash my face. It was a *new* set of Thai tourist police, with my tee-ruk in tow. Seems she was making a charge against me for assault. There is a small bruise or scratch on her ankle, probably something she did herself when she was walking home drunk. But she is claiming that I did it. I explained to the cops about the trouble the previous evening and how she had been taken in the squad car -- not by the regular cops -- but their own fellow officers from their very own precinct. They knew nothing about this. She had forgotten to mention it to them. I pointed out to these two officers that if I had assaulted my little darling, then why did she not make a complaint to the cops that previous evening? Why did she wait till the following morning to dream up this charge against me? I know. It defies logic. But hey it is a case of TIT, as old Trink would say. Anyhow the cops slowly came around to agreeing with my account of things. They said they had more to do with their time that settle domestic arguments. They escorted her out of my place and waited for here to move off down the street. And then they left too, shaking their heads . . . and perhaps wondering about crazy farang in Thailand. So good, so far. But then, today is another day. I don't think I have seen the last of her yet, not by a long shot. I am making plans . . . We'll see what happens next! You still may want to consider hiring a cheap but "trustworthy" body guard for a couple weeks. Rock on, dude. If you can break her spirit (not done yet, probably) you will be free forever, because she will give up and go looking for another sucker, and never turn back. A new sucker (or nobody at all!) would make her life a hell of a lot easier than you are making things for her right now. Invite acquaintances to your house, often. Keep us posted. Who is she anyway? Why would the cops be outsmarted or bakshished by a drunk, Just because she's thai? Ahah. I think the worse is past, make sure you call the cops if she wants to enter your house again, even with your permission. her last chance is to cry and tell you how much she is sorry, and if you open that door... beware she could hurt herself and then call the police, so better apply the proverbial 10 (300!)ft pole lengtgh. And now, let's wish you a great stay in Pattaya. i hope to have a drink with you when i reappear on that side of the world, next November (fingers crossed). She goes out alone and gets drunk and treats you like shit. A Thai man would have kicked her black and blue for what she is doing. The good thing it is at least logged with the police now. Go and see them again and see what reports have gone in, ask them about legal ways of preventing her or anyone she knows coming near you. get a couple of names of the cops you have dealt with and their cards. You never know when you may need to call them to clear up an issue. She may try the normal Police next time and they may not have access to the previous paperwork. A few beers or a bottle of something to someone in the department with clout and or the guys you have dealt with would probably be appreciated and make some good buddies at the same time.. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. If she’s bored with you or you don’t have enough money, she’ll just dump you. For some reason, rightly or wrongly, she believes you’re been unfaithful. You’ve got to convince her that you haven’t. Go home, take her hand, look into her eyes and ask her gently what’s wrong. If she screams or threatens just ignore it. Just keep asking and asking and eventually she’ll tell you. Then explain to her why she’s mistaken. You probably want to end the relationship but its better to try to do it on friendly terms if you can. At least try to understand her point of view. You are on her turf, and in the eyes of dragon-lady and her friends, you have dishonored her by throwing her out - after stealing five of her "good" years. This will not blow over - for YEARS to come. Trust me. I have experience in a situation like yours - except I was married to her, and I was not a perfectly faithful husband. I lost about 1.1 million baht in a bank account, plus about 150,000 baht in property damage. I walked away from an 80,000 baht lease deposit - simply to preserve my health and what little property I still had. From my own situation, I agree with the posters that feel that you must have done something bad yourself, to initially set your lady off - but that's really not the issue (did you have a child with her, by any chance?). You have a right to break clean and start over - particularly if you've offered to giver her some interim financial support. But you best get moving - NOW - before she has time to formulate several plans, and start running them against you one at a time until you crash. Remember - she will have a whole network of friends advising her to try all kind of revenge tactics - for them, it will be great entertainment watching you squirm at the end of a meathook. Relocate fast. Leave no forwarding address, make no phone calls back - sanitize your trail. Assuming that you plan to someday have another Thai girlfriend - you best be FAR away from dragon-lady number one, or your new girlfriend will end up with "nam krod" (battery acid) thrown in her face. If you lock up your flat and take anything you wouldnt want to lose. I agree with one of the previous poster I AM sure some girls make a habit out of this in Pattaya, in my observations just the freelancers never beer bar or gogo. Incidentally in England if you go to the police with clean hands they will nearly always help you pull out the stops, however if you are " no good " ie involved in illegal acts or immoral acts they will leave you to sink or swim. Were the cops so helpful to you because you are outwardly very respectable and obviously not a whore mongererer, and do the police help farangs that are morally bad. You have got some time..now get the hell out, or you will *always* be looking over your shoulder for "her", of friends of her.. spirit_of_town_hall Posted July 20, 2001 Report Share Posted July 20, 2001 How long would be a sfe time for tropic nights to lie low, I mean has anyone on the board direct experience of this, would 6 months be too little , too long. Pattaya is a pretty small place I would hate to blot my copy book there as I imagine you could only stay for 3 or 4 days at a time before your enemy realisd that you were back in town!
