Damen
USA 4 -Slovakia 2   Germany 2 - CZE 0 - Mentors, the Americans are now 3-1 with their only loss coming to CZE in the final minute of play. After they beat Germany, which they will do, they will most likely end up 4-2 (probably will lose to CAN). This might be enough to get the 2nd place in their bracket. There is still a long way to go and it will be an uphill battle but if the US comes away with a medal, it would be a huge upset!! CZE is in real danger now as they must face CAN and a desperate SVE team.

Mentors
never mind, take a drink and enjoy todays games, for example Canada - Belarus. Will not be an easy fight for the Canadians i think. Especially with follow strange doin': from the official page: http://live82.ihwc.net/english/article/news/index.ihwc?&artId=2588 IIHF President René Fasel expressed his profound disappointment over the Canadian Parliament's interference with Hockey Canada's choice of Shane Doan as captain of the Canadian national team at the 2007 IIHF World Championship in Moscow. "It is totally unacceptable that politicians should interfere with things like the selection of a national team's captain," said Fasel. A committee of the Canadian Parliament has summoned Hockey Canada officials to explain their choice of Doan. At issue is an alleged derogatory remark by Doan toward a French-Canadian referee during a game in 2005. The Phoenix Coyotes forward has denied making a slur and was cleared by the NHL--but almost two years later, a linesman still maintains Doan shouted a racial slur towards him. Fasel, who is a member of the International Olympic Committee and also chairman of the Coordination Commission for Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, says that political interference in IIHF matters and events is against the organizationsâ?? statues and bylaws. "The IIHF observes strict political, racial, and religious neutrality, and we don't accept the interference of any political body in what is a sports decision," said Fasel. "Our partner, the National Hockey League, investigated the incident, and the NHL fully acquitted Shane Doan of any wrongdoing. This issue should have been closed by now. "It's a shame that a classy person and role model like Shane Doan should be at the center of this attention. Instead of questioning Doan's character, all Canadians, including the politicians, should be proud of a player that always answers the call from Hockey Canada. We have seen Shane Doan win World Championship gold for Canada, and he also represented his country in the last Olympics. He is a great choice for a team captain, and as far as the IIHF is concerned he will remain Team Canada's captain here in Moscow, no matter what the politicians say." trooper
At the moment I would put my money on Canada or Russia. They are the two teams that have played the most flawless hockey so far. Russians had a poor third perioid against Finland but otherwise they were dangerously good.
McBif
Cap Doan seems to thrive under pressure. Got a hat-trick against Belarus. Doan Socks It To Frog Politicians
ALHOLK
Sweden - Denmark 5:2 Great that they won but if they are going to beat Finland and Russia they will have to improve their game at least 200%.

Damen
USA is in the quarters after a 3-0 shutout against the German's. The refs were brutal in this game. I know that the international game is called much tighter and a less physical style is played but 15 penalties? At least 1/3 should have been non-calls.
