Zaad
You may be right but thing is that V.D.Vaart is still (slightly) injured which is why Sneyder took his place. IMO a comfortable victory. They should've kept going for the second goal but kinda let the Serbs come.. I don't know what it is with the first games this WC..let's hope Portugal brings a world class performance

bibblies
I wasn't convinced by either Holland or Argentina. Both seemed to be more defensively susceptible than England, for example. Holland tired and Serbia were probably the better side in the second half. I was pleased to see that imaginary card-waving Serbian player booked (Corrado?) He was a good player but those antics annoy me. A couple of things I'd like to see change: 1. What's with some referees (particularly the half-monkey, half-vampire in charge of England-Paraguay) preventing players from taking on water in 30 degree heat? Wankers! It's hard enough for us already, playing World Cups always in the summer! 2. Challenges involving goalkeepers. These should NOT automatically result in freekicks against the attacker, jostling of the attacker by defenders outraged that attackers should dare to go within two feet of the little dears and much fussing over the guy with the gloves to see if the poor ickle thing is OK. I saw Vigic put in a perfectly good challenge on VanDerSaar and there was no way he was going to get a fair decision out of it. Goalkeepers are over-protected - they're there to be challenged like anyone else.
Belem
Sweden attacks Trinidad the whole game, has 18 shots on goal to Trinidad's 6, has an 11-10 player advantage at the 46 minute mark on, and the final score is 0-0.:banghead:Trinidad(and West Ham) goalkeeper Hislop made some outstanding stops. Joe Cole was switched from his left midfield position to support lone frontman Crouch when Owen was substituted during the second half. Eriksson's critics cited the use of Cole as a makeshift striker as proof that the Swede blundered by going to Germany with only four specialist strikers, especially as Owen and Wayne Rooney are struggling for match fitness. England can guarantee qualification for the next round if they beat Trinidad on Thursday.
Zaad
Bibbs, The overprotection keepers seem to enjoy bothers me as well. The vdSar incident you mentioned was 50-50.. the attacker jumped 'towards' the keeper. The keeper jumped up but then was knocked to the ground ..I *think* that's what refs base their decision regarding these incidents on.
ChristianTroy
Goalies are overprotected because they always have their arms up in the air while the striker is able to protect his body with his arms! Easy to get an albow or a hand in the kidneys or the liver or even the golden nuts! I thought the referee of the Holland game was excellent! Belem and all other brittish people here: If you reall wanna know whats wrong then have a closer look at your midfield. IT IS THE BEST MIDFIELD IN THE TOURNAMENT. They defenders play the ball long to Crouch which means they outplay their own midfield which is supposed to be the creative department! Think about it! The longer the ball is in the air the longer the defense has time to get in position!
