Coss
Hi all, whilst not mongering pics, I hope that these make up for my rare postings. They are of another of a gent's noble pursuits, trout. 4 of the 6 rainbows I got last weekend, for size, the gaff is about 40cm long and the fish were nice and fat, perfect frying pan fish. Posted on a couple of boards as some may not be members on the others. Cheers Coss
The_Munchmaster
Nice looking fish COSS, full tails, no broken fins and nice shape. I wish I was trout fishing right now instead of stuck on a building site in Dubai. Was wondering though why you would carry a gaff with you when you're trout fishing?! The_Munchmaster
Forgot to ask, what did you catch them on?
Coss
Hi Munch, caught 'em on something we call a Tokoroa Chicken - top secret. And the gaff is because I've caught two browns in the past that wouldn't fit in the net. Cheers Coss

teddy
Munchy, its not that much of a secret, a Tokoroa Chicken is a feather covered bulletshaped leadhead lure with a running line thru it tied straight to a hook which sits hidden in the feathers during normal casting and retrieving. I'm sure a man of your experience could make one up.
The_Munchmaster
Really? Is it designed to be cast with a fly rod or with a spinning rod?
Guest lazyphil
I assume in NZ you have lots of fast running rivers for trout fishing, proberbly free or cheap and abundent natural supplys, here, to fish for natural brownies (apposed to stock pond rainbows...hardly call that fishing) you need a big wad for the Hampshire Avon, Dorset Stour and Scottish rivers etc......so I stick to the wiley old fenland Essox (pike) ::
