BKKanalist
Last night there appeared to be a Patpong style nightmarket in Soi Cowboy. Also lots and lots of movie cameras, lights, etc. I was told that Nicolas Cage was in Soi Cowboy filming a new movie based in BKK. Can anyone confirm? Mekong
Quite Possable since Nic Cage is starring in the Western remake of the 1999 Thai Movie Bangkok Dangerous. Article
BKKanalist
Thanks Mekong. When I go somewhere and see movie cameras and large lights I generally leave.
Old Hippie
I hope this does not encourage more useless chuckle fucks to head to BKK...
kwai_hai
Yep he was there. The film is called Bit Hit in Bangkok or something like that. They put up a sign saying "anyone who goes past this point consents to be filmed and will receive no compensation". Bit rude really I thought. Saw one bloke being "escorted " to the end of the street and then a lot of fiddling with his camera. Suspect they were deleting pictures taken. Later in the night Nicky was rushed through the street with half a dozen or so minders as the shoot moved into Soi 23. I ventured out to take a picture but there were old bill everywhere so I decided against it. Too much excitement for one evening!
BKKanalist
I walked in from the Asoke side and was amazed to see all the nightmarket shit just like the stuff that killed Patpong for me. With a keen eye I noticed the huge lights and movie cameras a few minutes later. The girl who said that it was Cage told me that it was going to be filmed in Patpong. The amount negotiated kept going up and up - everyones life was of course ruined by the filming and they deserved to be paid for it - so somebody just said "fuck it" and they made a nightmarket in Soi Cowboy for one night and probably did not have to pay anyone. First time I have ever seen Rawhide with not a single empty seat so maybe the filming was good for the bars last night.
Ckrisg
OH Hopefully not, on the upside they filmed a couple of episodes of Auf Weidershen Pet (A British sitcom)on Cowboy in about 2002/3 the producers decided to make it there version of Bangkok and it was unrecognisable. Used Tilac and replaced all the dancers with one fat old hag molesting a pole and put a large screen TV in showing of course Football and the bar had guiness and bitter on draught. Fuc..... that might attract the fuc...wits but most guys I spoke to after throught it was filmed in Hong Kong as the old hag looked chinese. the_numbers
I dunno about this film not encouraging the seedy side of Bangkok that appeals to so many would be tourists. I think it certainly will not hurt Thai tourism. I would argue the Hollywood Soi Cowboy might provide too rosy an image of the staff. I mean the "bargirls" they brought in for the shoot were a bunch of white skinned sexy as hell Thai models. God bless them Isaan princesses, but these girls were smoking for the "Bangkok Dangerous" shoot. The location was being shot as Patpong, but they did manage to make the market stall tops yellow?!!?! OH can take reconciliation in that maybe they'll all be headed to Silom, right? I guess no establishing shot over actual Patpong is being done by the Pang boys (Oxide and CO.) No need for accuracy though.. they also hung a few errant Chinese lanterns around. Best, the_numbers
Guest
It was all a bit gay if you ask me, which you weren't, but nonetheless.....sure, they had some real hunnies for BGs for the film....then i poked my head into a bar and realised the awful overweight, post-pregnant, tatooed, drug fuelled, rampant STD, money grabbing reality.... Quite ruined my night....so i was forced into going to NEP...bugger...
